Today we’d like to introduce you to Robyn Lubatty.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My husband Andrew and I bought Piccino’s 6 years ago. Both being from New York and having a love for pizza it was a great fit for us. The restaurant itself has been open for almost 20 years. We have a great loyal customer base and really like connecting with our community and appreciate all the support from our regulars.
We are a family-owned and operated business and refer to ourselves as “A Little Slice of Italy In Littleton”. Andrew’s chef and culinary background have allowed us to make some great additions to our menu over the years. We offer wood-fired pizzas, calzones, salads, panini sandwiches, and pasta. Everything is cooked in our wood-fired oven and made to order fresh. We also have great wine, beer, and Italian signature cocktails to accompany our food.
We are open 7 days a week from 11 am9 pm and offer to dine in and deliver through Grub Hub, Uber Eats, and Door Dash. Our tree-lined patio is popular as is our live music on Thursday nights. We also off drink specials Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. We treat our customers and staff like an extension of our “Piccino family”. Connecting with our customers, offering fresh delicious food, and great service have led to our success today.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Taking over an existing restaurant was not completely easy. When we first bought it some of the regular customers were worried that we were going to come in and make drastic changes to the menu and that some of their favorite items would not be available. Andrew being a chef knew that it would take time to make some changes and additions to learn what our customers liked and didn’t.
Over the past six years, we’ve made some great changes, and additions and in some cases taken items that weren’t great sellers off the menu. The great thing is that we can always make those items for our customers who want them even though they are not on the current menu, all they have to do is ask!!!
During the pandemic, we were able to keep all 25 of our employees working and turned our dining room into a “to go” warehouse, stocking boxes on tables, and keeping the to-go business going so we never had to fully close our doors. Our team approach allowed us to continue to serve our community during this challenging time and we appreciated all the local support which kept us going day to day.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a local family-owned and operated business in Littleton, Colorado. We offer wood-fired pizzas, calzones, pasta, salads, panini sandwiches, and great desserts. We also have a great selection of beer, wine, and Italian Signature Cocktails. We are open 7 days a week from 11 am-9 pm.
We are probably best known for our wood-fired pizzas, all fresh ingredients, and great topping choices like calamata olives, roasted garlic, artichoke hearts, goat cheese, and many more. All of our food is cooked in our 625-degree wood-fired oven. The crust is thin, the taste is amazing, and our open kitchen allows customers to see all the food being made right there before them.
Our wood-fired oven is in the middle of the restaurant as our open kitchen so our cooks get to interact with customers which adds to the “Piccino Team” approach. We also make a signature Spicy Oil that is on every table, great to drizzle on your salads, or pizza or dip your crust into. It has 7 chiles, herbs, and spices that are infused with olive oil, we made it here fresh and also have it available for sale. Bottles are $20 and make great gifts.
We have drink specials:
Monday- 1/2 off bottles of wine
Tuesday- 1/2 off draft beers
Wednesday- 1/2 off cocktails
We offer a local draft beer made right here in Littleton, which is great to support another small local business. We have a great community feel here in Littleton.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Our Piccino family and team approach to serving our customers and community is a great feeling. We have had most of our staff for the six years that we have owned the restaurant so everyone working together as a team towards a common goal makes us all happy.
