Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Carrell.
Hi Sam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved animals BUT have allergies so I never had a pet. I adopted Tinkerbelle The Dog at a friend’s shelter unexpectedly and my amazing adventure began. Walking Tinkerbelle through the streets of NYC to socialize her, she landed an animal talent agent. TInkerbelle booked a Ralph Lauren campaign and became the face of the campaign. She has been working as a professional actor/model continuously. Tinkerbelle’s social media accounts took off and campaigns and travel began. Adding a little sister – Belle – more opportunity opened up for both pups. Belle has been working as professional model / actor since 4 months! The award-winning International Travel Blog is what brought us to Denver for the BEST Holiday season ever! Working with VISIT DENVER and THE ART HOTEL, Christmas became even more magical and amazing. In my life, I never imagined working for 2 tiny pups. My background is as a commercial actor/voice over artist. Tinkerbelle The Dog & Belle have made my life absolutely amazing and I never regret working 24/7 for them as I get to create amazing content, work on set with them when booking commercials, print work, theatre, etc., AND travel to amazing locations that I would NOT have the opportunity if it wasn’t for them!
Appearing on the two morning shows in Denver was a fabulous way to end our adventure.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like every business, there are ups and downs. The professional acting/modeling world leads to rejection. The pups book some jobs and also lose some jobs. And it all comes down to the type of dog the producers decide they want. Even though there is always a reason, it is hard sometimes to accept.
The social media side also has many challenges. There is no rhyme or reason on why some posts do better than others and the posts that I think are not as good sometimes do better! Maintaining followers and their engagement is also challenging. IT does make me work harder and make sure to post daily with new content and interesting content. But with the social media algorithm, it’s out of my control.
Sometimes juggling life with work is hard. I do find that I work more than most people and harder. BUT – the rewards are amazing and I would not change it for anything. Each day, someone says how TInkerbelle & Belle make their bad day better and that is most rewarding for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In addition to working for Tinkerbelle The Dog & Belle, I have a dance school for children. This makes my life more busy BUT I make it work. I am very organized and find that is a huge help. Each day is scheduled. I work on their social media content daily before and after the dance school and on my days off from dance. IF they are booked on a shoot, I find someone to cover my work at the dance school.
I approach everything with a smile. Positive energy and professionalism always. Everyone who knows me knows my dedication to work and everything I do.
I am most proud of my accomplishments with Tinkerbelle The Dog & Belle because I never knew that adopting a pup would lead to an amazing new life with amazing adventures!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me most is hard work, success and happiness. To see how happy TInkerbelle The Dog & Belle are – even when working on a 7-day shoot – just makes my day. The unconditional love they provide cannot be compared.
