Meet Sarah Rose Attman of Sarah Rose Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Rose Attman.

Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I graduated from college in 2010. Even though I graduated in a recession, I was able to get a full-time job right away at Us Weekly in Los Angeles. This was thanks to securing editorial internships throughout college and meeting people along the way who helped me out. After working there, I realized I needed a change and found myself doing freelance writing and marketing. My first marketing client was a small supplement company I found on Craigslist. At that time, it was beyond my wildest dreams that I would one day have my own marketing company.

There were definitely struggles along the way. The pandemic was a big one. We lost a ton of business during that time. I’m always learning from any difficult moments and applying the lessons to the next client. I was just taking whatever the next logical step was in my career, trying to drum up as much work for myself as possible. That was 11 years ago and we’re still going strong.

I recently launched Sarah Rose Events in Aspen, an extension of Sarah Rose PR. Events and PR go hand in hand, and we had been doing events for clients over the years anyway. Now, it’s just more formalized/official. It’s its own brand. I am having so much fun doing personal events too, like milestone birthdays, in addition to more corporate events. It’s wonderful to be responsible for these important moments in our clients’ lives.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sarah Rose Events?
Sarah Rose Events in Aspen is a full-service event planning company located, as the name suggests, in Aspen, Colorado. We’re known for our colorful, vibrant, creative, and unique events and celebrations. We specialize in corporate events, milestone birthdays, cocktail parties, holiday parties, proposals, engagement parties, welcome dinners, and more. At this time, we are not so focused on wedding planning; there is a strong enough market for that in Aspen already.

What sets us apart is our East Coast work ethic, attention to detail, and robust communication style. Every client, no matter how small, is so important to us. I’ve found that being from the East Coast, my team and I are very “on top of it” and don’t have that laissez-faire attitude that, candidly, can be more common out West. I saw it in Los Angeles as well; people are more relaxed about life. And that’s great…except when you’re planning a 6- or 7-figure party and inviting all of your loved ones/business partners/etc., you want someone who is treating this like it’s a matter of life and death. Our clients can tell that we really care about their success.

We also really pride ourselves on coming up with new ideas for each client and having a colorful, vibrant aesthetic. So often events all kind of look the same as people select the safe, neutral tones. Not us! We love to be creative and have fun with the designs!

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My advice would be to just go for it. If you’re working a full-time job, start doing whatever business you have in mind on the side. I would also recommend keeping overhead costs low.

Don’t go lease an office and hire all this administrative staff right away. Build up your client base. Build up your reputation. And don’t be afraid to ask for help.
