Meet Scott Braband of Trinity Cigar Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Scott Braband.

Hi Scott, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Cigars have been a passion of mine for a number of years. I used to work construction prior to starting this business and a good cigar paired with good drink (coffee, soda, craft beer, whiskey, cocktail, etc) depending on the time of day of course, 😉 was a great way to unwind after a long week. It was during these retreats that I realized that I wanted to give people the same relaxing vibe that enjoying a premium hand-rolled cigar on the patio gave me, and thus Trinity Cigar Company’s mobile cigar lounge was born!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I definitely would not describe the road I’ve been on as smooth, but when is starting a niche business ever easy? Launching a business in the cigar industry requires a lot of hard work and diligence. Being one of the first mobile cigar lounges in the state came with a lot of problems that had to be solved. No one really understood what I was trying to accomplish or how to regulate the business. I had to work with a lot of different entities to make sure that I was doing this the right way legally.

Tobacco is a heavily regulated industry, so I needed to be certain that not only did I have all necessary licenses to be in compliance on a federal, state and local level, but that I stay current on all laws regarding tobacco. The ongoing struggle I have is marketing to my audience. Being in the tobacco industry makes it very difficult to advertise. I cannot run promotions on social media the way most businesses do, and being a small business, my marketing budget is extremely limited. My main source of advertising is word of mouth. People come out to our public events and are so struck by our lounge that they tell everyone. I find myself using the sayings, “This is greatest thing you didn’t know you needed.” and, “You have to experience our mobile lounge to understand it.” a lot. So, marketing will always be a hurdle we have to overcome.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Trinity Cigar Company was started in 2018 on the notion of bringing the cigar lounge to the customer instead of the customer having to go to the lounge. The mobile lounge is set up to give of a patio vibe. Colorado has some of the greatest weather in the U.S. and we want our customers to be able to enjoy it! With the open-air design, we allow our guests to enjoy a cigar in a comfortable chair while still feeling engaged to whatever activities are going on outside of the lounge. We do rentals for every occasion. Weddings, birthdays, sporting events, corporate functions, brewery events, whiskey lounge partnering, charity events, motorcycle rallies, horseback trail riding events (yes, we’ve done this 🙂) and the list goes on. We operate year-round and have plenty of heaters to keep our guests comfortable in even the winter months.

We specialize in creating the “experience” that is required for each event. Whether it’s a black-tie gala or a broncos tailgate on Sunday, we strive to make our mobile lounge the perfect addition that leaves your guests talking for days after. Our mobile cigar lounge currently offers over 50 different premium hand-rolled cigar lines for retail, with over 1000 cigars in stock at any given time. (No cigarettes or vape.)

Full cut and light service, as well as custom cigar and drink pairing recommendations, are included. Our 65″ 4K LED TV has full satellite set up, allowing our guests to watch their favorite programs and sporting events. Our mobile cigar lounge is a one-of-a-kind experience in the state and we have been named “Best Mobile Cigar Lounge – west of the Mississippi” by Cigar Dojo, the world’s largest online cigar community.

What does success mean to you?
In my opinion, success isn’t something you achieve; it’s something you strive for. You can’t let the fear of failure stop you from getting up every day and actively working to complete your goals. This is what I believe keeps you on the path to success. Some days you succeed at this and you’re on top of the world, and some days nothing goes right and you question your own sanity for the decisions you’ve made. Success is something that should always be just out of reach. This way, you never stop working to achieve it and build something great while doing so.
