Meet Sonja Lilljeberg

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonja Lilljeberg.

Hi Sonja, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
From the very get-go, my ideal career was something in health services. When I was finishing high school, it was either physical therapy school or veterinary school. I chose the people side versus the animal side. As my life progressed and my world changed, I decided on a healer path. I became a Reiki Master/Teacher over 10 years ago.

This was mid-2000 and it wasn’t that widely accepted yet. So, I became a massage therapist. That side of me took over career-wise and I thrived. I worked in Chicago for years then moved to NYC where I enjoyed every aspect of my career. It was exciting to move all around the city seeing all types of clients in need. I loved the vibrancy that NYC offered but eventually, all that moving and running up and down Manhattan tired me out. I moved to Denver pre-pandemic knowing that the mountains, fresh air, and clear skies were calling me back this way.

I’ve reinvented myself in my career path. I’ve added new exciting services to my listings. I added in Intuitive work. I combine physical bodywork with energetic bodywork. I’ve added in coaching and mentoring others like me trying to find their path. It’s given me the most rewarding season of my career.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is anything in life ever easy? I think my biggest challenges tend to be the same: starting over in new cities, trying to rebuild a client roster, and staying consistently booked. My move to NYC was probably my most difficult challenge. The state required me to add more hours to my study and to sit for State Boards. I didn’t move there just to manage someone else’s business, I wanted to still practice and that was the only way forward.

Having to go back to school, take your exam again, and start from the bottom, is not one of my favorite parts of my massage career. But what it did do for me, was introduce me to some amazing people along the way that would end up supporting me in the best way possible. I had a great friend that I worked with in hospitality while back in school. She was also a yoga teacher and introduced me to one of the studios she worked at.

They had a massage room that allowed me to practice and meet one of the most influential people in my NYC career. He sent me all his clients. He sent me to professional athletes. He sent me to the who’s who of NYC that continued to float me around to their circle. So the struggle of having to start all over again pushed me into one of the most rewarding situations posts. I can’t think back on that experience enough without fondness for knowing how far along I had come.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Intuitive Healer. I am a licensed massage therapist and reiki master/teacher. I am an Intuitive. I have combined all these skills and practices to create a space of energetic alignment for all of those I come in contact.

My education is in physical therapy and body mechanics. I have a passion for understanding the dysfunction of the human body. I don’t like the thought that the body is broken, it’s simply not functioning how it should. I can and will help you find the best you in this type of work. For people looking to find energy healing as part of their modalities, I am more than happy to add this to any service.

Energy work can do just as much for your healing as physical touch. I thrive knowing how it helps with the emotional balance of the human soul. There are so few other practitioners like me out there, I know I am unique in my business. Along with the hands-on work, I love my intuitive side. As a mentor and coach in their arena, I bring a level of understanding and compassion to my readings and coaching.

This side of me is newer in my practice as I’m coming to learn I can no longer ignore that passion. I want to give to others what my mentors and coaches have done for me over the years, understanding. My goal with this passion piece is to encourage others to understand their intuition, to listen to the universe, and to trust themselves!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
My goal is to connect with as many people as possible in this world. You can find me at my studio in Denver located at Nurture, surrounded by some of the best and most amazing holistic providers in the city.

I love doing workshops with others, like sound baths and reiki sessions for groups. I’m also up for being a speaker on body mechanics for fitness professionals like trainers and yoga instructors. The best way to find me is through my business website – Lotus Lounge Healing Center.
