Meet Stacey Bell of Gnarly’s

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacey Bell

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello My names is Stacey and I am from Golden, Colorado where I was born, raised and graduated Highschool. After high school i left Golden to pursue a career. Shortly after I met my now husband and started a family. In late 2018 we opened our first brick and mortar store in Lakewood called The Gnarly Toybox Which is a vintage toy and collectibles store that specializes in the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000’s. When Covid hit we were forced to close our doors for 6 months. We pivoted and exploded our business online. We have grown so much we are in the process of franchising The Gnarly toybox and hope to see them pop up not only across the nation but also worldwide. We had been looking around to expand with more stores locally. Last summer I had heard abut Minors Alley Playhouse moving their operations to the old Hardware store. Although the space wasnt right for another toy store I had wondered what would come of the space. I had an idea that Golden needed some more fun stuff to do and a comedy Club would be perfect for that space! I asked around and my friend Luke Moss owner of the Golden Curiosity shop put me into contact with the Landlord of the space. I didn’t expect much from our initial meeting but they loved my husbands and my vision for the space and we negotiated our lease. Early October we started renovations. We wanted to bring our brand and Style from The Gnarly Toybox over to what is now called Gnarly’s. Which is a very 80s themed comedy club/variety show theater that has a free play arcade, Garbage pail kid bar, pink fuzzy walls, exotic snacks and a free vintage toy museum. We did our soft opening December 27th and Soon will do our Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting ceremony. Gnarly’s will have comedy, magic, burlesque, movies, podcasts, music and so much more. We offer space rentals as well.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With any business ownership there are ups and downs. Covid was to most a down but my husband and i are masters at pivoting if something isn’t working. We do a great job at accessing the situation and finding what isnt working and looking for solutions. Id say the hardest part was opening Gnarly’s is doing it so during quarter one and trying to get people to know about us. But Brandon and I also see the slower times as a way to work out all the kinks and figure out our flow before we do our Grand Opening and really get our presence known.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Gnarly’s is the first of its kind Comedy Club/Variety show theater in Golden. We bring a fun place to be for people of all ages. Nostalgia is big and the 80’s and 90’s was such a fun memorable time for so many. We offer premiere entertainment in the foothills of the Rocky mountains. Golden is such a special and fun town. With its scenic views and rustic charm. For many in surrounding areas we are offering a closer option for comedy and live entertainment with better parking then heading into the big city. With our free play Gnarcade (Arcade), Awesome themed “Gnarbar’ and our Gnardega filled with exotic snacks from all around the world we really stand apart and offer something to make everyone smile. Our theater room offers a spacious stage and comfortable stadium style seating. With its glitter walls and pink seats everyone is sure to love the ambiance.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We will be offering a variety of shows to enjoy! During the summer months are plan is to be very family friendly during the day offering 30 minute variety shows every hour. These shows would be magicians, ventriloquism, mentalist, puppeteers, contortionists and so much more. Then at night we will shift to more of an adult atmosphere with comedy, burlesque, magic, music, podcast ect. We really want to be a space that has something for everyone! Our plan is to also rent the space out to people for birthdays or corporate speakers. The list goes on of uses for such a unique and fun space.
