Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacie Dauffenbach.

Hi Stacie , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My marketing journey began in an unexpected way. For the first 12 years of my corporate career, I worked in accounting and customer service at a local security company. However, one day I discovered an interest in social media and started doing freelance work for small businesses. This passion led me to work for a well-known Android blog website as an editor, podcaster, and live event coverage specialist.

After about three years of enjoying marketing as a personal interest, I woke up one day with a profound realization: why wasn’t I pursuing marketing as a full-time career? I started searching and found the perfect fit – an entry-level marketing position in the security industry where I already had over a decade of experience.

I quickly applied for the role and then went a step further by tracking down the CMO. I emailed her directly, explaining that with my extensive experience in the security industry and my passion for marketing, I was the perfect candidate for the position. To my delight, I was called in for an interview on a Friday at 4 pm and received an offer letter the following Monday. That moment marked the official start of my professional marketing career.

As I progressed in my career, I had the privilege of working with ADT for over a decade, a billion-dollar brand, where I led high-performing teams across social media, digital paid media, brand strategy, content strategy, and creative services. I spearheaded a comprehensive rebranding initiative, built in-house creative and digital media teams from the ground up, and developed award-winning campaigns that drove significant results.

One of the most memorable campaigns was our “When Every Second Counts” brand campaign, which achieved a 10% increase in brand consideration and contributed to an 18% lift in sales. Another notable success was a content strategy campaign that increased brand visibility and engagement by nearly 200X, generating over $500K in earned media value. It was incredibly fulfilling to see how our work directly impacted the bottom line while also changing public perception of the brand.

Throughout my journey, I’ve learned that the key to success in marketing is to always put the customer first. Whether I’m developing a content strategy or launching a new product, I start by understanding the customer’s needs, challenges, and aspirations. This customer-centric approach has been the foundation of my work and has helped me create campaigns that not only drive results but also forge deep emotional connections between brands and their audiences.

I’ve always wanted to be a therapist, and starting my own marketing consultancy in January 2025 has unexpectedly fulfilled that dream! I’ve become a kind of “brand therapist,” and I think it has been my favorite part about this new career path. What I’ve discovered is that my superpower isn’t just marketing knowledge, it’s my ability to truly listen. When clients share their business challenges, I’m not just hearing words… I’m connecting with their vision, frustrations, and untapped brand potential.
I’ve learned that the best solutions appear organically when you ask the right questions and create space for honest dialogue. Sometimes what a brand needs most isn’t another campaign… it’s someone who can help articulate what makes them truly special in the first place!

Today, I bring my extensive experience and customer-centric philosophy to the brands I work with. From smaller local companies and mid-tier startups to publicly traded brands, I love helping them unlock their full potential through innovative marketing strategies. My goal is to be a true partner to my clients, working alongside them to tackle their toughest challenges and celebrate their greatest successes.

Looking back, I’m grateful for every twist and turn in my story because it’s shaped me into the marketer I am today – one who is equal parts strategic and creative, analytical and empathetic. And I’m excited to keep writing this story, one campaign at a time. I love what I do and wake up every day excited for what’s to come!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting my own marketing consulting business in January 2025 has been an exhilarating and transformative journey, but it hasn’t been without its challenges. One of the biggest advantages I had when starting out was the incredible network of contacts I had built throughout my career, both on the brand and agency side. As a naturally social person, I was able to leverage these relationships to secure clients and build momentum for my new venture. Many of my contacts even reached out to me proactively, which was a testament to the strong relationships I had cultivated over the years.

LinkedIn has been a particularly valuable platform for generating referrals and connecting with potential clients. However, maximizing the benefits of LinkedIn requires consistent effort and engagement. Posting regular content, participating in industry discussions, and nurturing my professional network are all essential for staying top-of-mind and attracting new business opportunities. But finding the time and energy to maintain an active LinkedIn presence can be challenging when client work is demanding. There have been times when I’ve had to make tough choices about prioritizing billable work over my own marketing and branding efforts.

The inherent ups and downs of being a freelancer have also required a new level of resilience and adaptability. In my previous roles, I had the security of a steady paycheck and a clear career path. But as an entrepreneur, every day brings new uncertainties and challenges. There have been times when I’ve had to juggle multiple client projects with tight deadlines, and other times when I’ve had to hustle to find new business to keep my pipeline full. It’s required a new level of resilience and adaptability, and I’ve had to learn to trust in my own abilities and have faith that the hard work will pay off.

One of the biggest mental shifts I’ve had to make as an entrepreneur is learning to separate my self-worth from my business success. In the corporate world, it was easy to tie my identity and value to my job title and the prestige of the companies I worked for. But as a business owner, I’ve had to learn to define success on my own terms and find validation from within.

Despite the challenges, starting my own business has been the most rewarding experience of my career. Every day brings new opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact for my clients. I’ve had the chance to work with a diverse range of companies, from small local businesses to large brands, and each project has stretched me in new ways and helped me expand my skillset.
