Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara Jade
Hi Tiara, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Music has always been a central part of my life growing up, but I never realized I could turn my passions into a career until I was much older. I used to get picked on by classmates in my middle school choir class for my singing. Sometimes they would shake their heads during my solos while other times they would point and laugh.
When I was 16, my singing ability was fortuitously discovered. I signed a 1 year contract with The Singers Company record label whose founder, Roy Hamilton III, saw my potential and wanted to help me launch my career. Thanks to his encouragement, and the constant support from my family, I realized my true talent and have relentlessly pursued my singing career on my own ever since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey has not always been a smooth road, and I have faced many obstacles and challenges along the way.
For starters, being enrolled in two colleges simultaneously – the Los Angeles Film School (LAFS) and Arapahoe Community College (ACC) – took a large chunk of my time. Not to mention, my financial struggles to keep my music career a float has always been all too real. Just for LAFS, my music school tuition averaged around $9.5k per semester. Not to mention, the total production and marketing costs of my first album was well over $20k, which I couldn’t afford on my own and relied heavily on my parents’ support.
To overcome some of these financial difficulties, I have started focusing more heavily on DIY production, recording parts of my songs in my home studio to save costs. I have also started working part-time jobs wherever I can, including positions as a freelance marketer and a barista for my ACC college cafe.
My heart still aches thinking the challenges I faced in Middle School. Choir class bullies mocked my voice during rehearsals and live performances. From pointing and laughing to gossiping loudly about me to each other in class. I was also relentlessly picked on for my looks by those who I considered friends. However, these experiences made me stronger and helped me fly higher. I can now share my own experiences with fans who have suffered similarly, giving audiences someone they can relate to who understands them.
Not to mention, the constant full time job of needing to stay on top of current social media trends on TikTok and Instagram to remain relevant. Constantly creating short-form content in order to stay relevant and not slip into the background is an ever-present challenge.
The road has been tough, but it is all worth it – my music is now my full-time passion!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m so excited to share my creative passions with you! I’m Tiara Jade, a self-made singer, songwriter, musician, and producer. I specialize in genre-bending pop music with modern and alternative elements. I’m known for my raw passionate vocal style, my unique meter and chord changes in each of my songs, and my unapologetically real lyrics.
My songwriting style has been compared to Sara Bareilles and Neyla Pekarek, while my vocal quality is notably similar to the authenticity of Taylor Swift. I’m most proud of my debut album “Mirror|rorriM” that I released this past January 31st. It’s my rawest and most creatively complex work yet.
My fearless creativity & dedication to empowering fans through my music is what sets me apart. I have so much respect and genuine care for each one of my supporters. I always want them to feel seen and heard by giving them music they can relate to.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Happiness for me is creating music that resonates with fans. Happiness is seeing my songs bring people joy & comfort. It makes me happy to performing my music live – nothing beats that rush! Collaborating with fellow artists who share my vision brings me so much joy as well! Why? Because music saved me. Music helped me and gave me an outlet to express my hardest and darkest moments – now I get to pay it forward. My ultimate goal is global happiness & peace through music! To pay it forward, I share my own struggles & healing journey to inspire others.
