Meet Tom Roth of Step Seven Ministries

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tom Roth.

Hi Tom, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m the founder of Step Seven Ministries. We are a faith based ministry that serves men who are struggling with substance abuse. We do this through our Small Groups, Worship Services and Sober Living Homes. We got started in 2006 with my simple desire to help and serve this community. I have been sober myself for 39 years now. As the founder and pastor of Step Seven my main goal is to introduce these men into a healing relationship with Jesus. Our very simple Mission Statement is: “SHARING JESUS WITH THE ADDICTED.” And our Vision Statement is: “TO SEE MEN BECOME CHRIST CENTERED, SET FREE FROM ADDICTION AND TRANSFORMED INTO LEADERS.” Our system works well. I

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road. We struggle with government regulation. Financial challenges are always with us and quite obviously, we deal with a pretty tough crowd. There is no lack of drama within the ministry. Many of the men we serve are fresh out of detox, rehab and a good percentage are straight from prison. Once again, tough crowd.

As you know, we’re big fans of Step Seven Ministries. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’ve pretty much summarized this in the previous questions. I’m most proud of all the lives we have saved. And I mean that literally. Addiction is a life or death sentence. We save lives!!!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Our simple desire to serve this population.
