Meet Tristen Rogers of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tristen Rogers.

Tristen Rogers

Hi Tristen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Starting HAT HOUSE Endurance was a combination of personal passion for endurance sports, and developing a team/atmosphere where athletes can train amongst like-minded individuals and not have to “go it alone”.

As a former athletic director, my educational upbringing has been around aport and coaching others. When my personal passion for endurance sports grew (mainly through triathlon), I realized there was a desperate need for community and commoderie during the long grueling training hours. Training for these events solo, wasn’t as fulfilling as it could be, and I wanted to start a team/community to bring these people together, help them train more efficiently, work harder together, and have fun doing it.

HAT HOUSE Endurance started from this idea in 2016 and has always had a dedicated space for members to come and train on their bikes, or run in a team setting. We pride ourselves on being performance-based, emphasizing personal growth in the sport, while keeping training fun and social.

We offer memberships on different levels: the ambassador live and the coached-athlete level. As an Ambassador, you can join our team, be a part of team workouts and spin classes, without having the commitment or accountability to a coach for daily workouts. As a coached-athlete, you have the ability to work with USAT Level II Coach “T” who gives personalized weekly workouts to help you appropriately plan and get your ready to tackle your endurance race calendar and get your closer or accomplish the goals set out between you to at the beginning of the season.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Of course this journey of starting a small business has its ups and downs. I think the biggest unforeseen road bump was COVID. In an instant, the whole basis of community and camaraderie was halted and we had to shut down our facility for an entire year. However, the knowledge that was gained during that time was irreplaceable. Because HAT HOUSE felt so strongly about personal connections (between athletes, athlete/coach), our ‘family’ stayed together virtually the entire time and almost grew stronger out of this circumstance. I believe it is a testament to how much we as athletes truly do need connection and community when pursuing our athletic hobbies/passion. We are very thankful to be back in our training space and back together, and realize how important being amongst our peers helps push and motivate us towards achieving our goals!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My entire professional life has been centered around sport, coaching, helping others achieve. I started as a physical education teacher, then moved to Athletic Directing, and finally made the leap to starting my own small business of endurance coaching with HAT HOUSE Endurance. I also co-manage a local running specialty store, where my small business is also located, keep things ‘in the family’. I specialize in coaching, where I have taken my passion for teaching and professional development and applied it to my personal business of coaching endurance athletes. I believe it’s important to be a life-long learner and am always attending conferences, classes and taking with other coaches in the business to keep my knowledge in the sport evolving as the sport continues to evolve!
I think I’m most known for my passion to make others better and being a physical presence in the endurance community and being there for my athletes. I do not coach remote athletes, I like to personally get to know those that I coach, and find myself developing a connection with my athletes that allows me to fully understand how they ‘tick’ and how to then tap into their potential.
I am most proud of the business that I have built, the community that has developed because of it, and the reputation we have acquired. We work hard, we are known for results, but we are also are known for giving back, helping others become excited about their endurance journey, are welcoming and positive cheerleaders for everyone participating in endurance and multi-sport!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I think the qualities I possess that have been most important to the success of HAT HOUSE Endurance, is the ability to positively interact with people. My personality is outgoing, and I am always wanting to interact, listen and get really hyped about people’s personal passion towards their goals. I think having positive energy and the ability to connect people to each other in ways that helps motivate them and keep them consistent is what has kept HAT HOUSE Endurance a relevant and constant place for athletes to continue their athletic journey. We are never stagnant, we are always training, racing, participating in community events, and having social interactions outside of our daily grind.
