Today we’d like to introduce you to Wes Hinds.
Hi Wes, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Demonstrating considerable artistic talent at an early age, I wanted to be an architect. On my way to becoming an Architect, the Vietnam War detoured me into the U.S. Air Force for a six year tour of duty. Upon completing my Air Force career as an instructor at Lowry A.F.B., I attended the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver graduating with an Associates Degree in Advertising Design. I freelanced for several years and opened a small successful advertising agency in the 1980s.
After moving to Montrose, Colorado, I landed a job working for Habitat Software, a family owned sports wear company doing silkscreen & embroidery wildlife art.
Five years later, due to declining demand of high quality embroidery art, I decided to return to what I grew up with. Home improvement. Starting with a local handyman service, I quickly became the go-to expert for fixing others’ mistakes. Frustrated with poor craftsmanship, I realized that doing the job right the first time is the key to lasting results. This philosophy led to the creation of C. Wesley’s Home Repairs, (CWHR), specializing in professional remodeling & construction services in Morrison, CO, including bathroom and kitchen remodeling, deck construction, and more.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We have never in 25 years been in a position of wanting for work. Biggest challenge has been hiring conscientious workers that I can count on to complete projects to the degree of detail I and my customers want.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My Artistic background comes to play when solving a customers problem areas. I take pride in solving spatial problems, like getting two bathrooms where only one existed, or making a dream kitchen where ho hum was the standard. Creating a pleasing space with light and color to get away from boring.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My Father, for instilling in me a good work ethic.
