Meet William Stumpe of Avalanche Packing and Selling LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Stumpe.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I had the idea to offer packing services to customers that were getting ready for a move and also to sell their unwanted furniture for a small percentage, I hired an SEO company to get us exposure and build a good website and logo. I invested a lot into that process so we would be professional. After a while I started advertising on other apps and we ended up getting a lot of requests for loading and unloading a customer’s truck or on-site POD. At that point we also offered loading and unloading services along with packing and selling. As I got more knowledgeable in the business, I discovered how many people move short distances, even moves within their same complex. We started offering short distance moves and renting trucks for the moves, eventually we bought a moving truck and now offer full in state moving along with our original services. Along the way we edited our website to add these new services. Avalanche Packing and Selling also partnered with Google Local ads in where we needed to be registered with CO Department of Regulations as a licensed home services provider which we now hold a state license and all the required insurance levels. Avalanche Packing and Selling also teams up on marketing with REMAX, Yelp, Angi and BARK, all provide us with verified leads which keeps us pretty busy. To date Avalanche has all 5-star reviews on Google and Angi. Our niche market is the short distance small move; we receive numerous requests for those typed of moves. As we evolved as a moving service provider, we met the needs of the consumers and expanded our services to incorporate full-service door to door moves withing Colorado.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Avalanche Packing and Selling certainly hit bumps along the road. We used a certain home services app which was completely unfair to the contractors and did not provide us with the quality of work we wanted to attract. After switching over the Google Local Services ads, it’s been night and day with the customers and the support we now receive from Google.

Insurance was also a struggle as many carriers don’t want to cover movers, but we found a fantastic company in Utah that handles most of our insurance needs.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Avalanche Packing and Selling LLC?
We are different from other movers in that we do not over charge, we do not add hidden charges at the end of the job and we are very straight forward with our pricing and our services unlike other companies in this Industry. We work with our customers on the pricing, so they do not get hit with a large invoice at the end of the job. We also provide professional movers who have vast experience in this Industry.

I come from owning an Electrical Company for 30 years where we had over 200 techs in the field, I am also an electrician and am well versed in working with field reps and customers on the sales side also. Making sure that the stress of a move or a load or unload is alleviated when working with Avalanche Packing and Selling. We are proud of our ability to offer 5-star service and fair prices and exceptional customer service.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting companies from scratch is always a major risk, and I have started 3 successful businesses to date. I do view myself as a risk taker and I believe that most businesses can succeeded with hard work and dedication and long hours. You need to take the time to be a success it is never handed to you. I consider myself a good leader and boss which is key to treating employees to work hard for you,
