Meet Yoshi Todoroki

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yoshi Todoroki.

Hi Yoshi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Grew up playing all kinds of sports including baseball, swimming, football, basketball, and everything in between.

Once I moved to college, I lost touch with sports but still had my passion for food. That being said, I gained a ton of weight in a semester and was the most unhealthy self that I have ever been at the age of 18-19. Luckily, my blunt mother told me that I looked very round and that was the day I began my journey for a healthier lifestyle. After a full year of eating healthier, and getting into fitness, I lost 42 lbs and gained a passion for weight lifting.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I would say overall it was a smooth road for me, but the obstacles that came along were definitely some tough ones.

The biggest struggle was getting too caught up trying to eat “healthy” and not getting my proper nutrients which caused a major chemical imbalance in my body and funneled down a dark tunnel. I would say the main cause of that was comparing myself to other people and not appreciating every little win that I conquered which lead to body dysmorphia and depression. Overcoming that was extremely difficult because accepting the fact that I was suffering took a long time, but once I noticed and accepted my issue, everything was uphill after that!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a personal trainer and not the kind that wants everyone to become a meathead. I am very personable, outgoing, and understanding to everyone around me. I understand the struggles and obstacles for fitness and a healthier lifestyle and am never shy to share my story and where I came from.

What makes me stand out from the rest is that I am very honest with my clients. I know the truth hurts sometimes but lying or sugarcoating things will not help you achieve your goals. I am very proud of myself for where I am at as a personal trainer after a year of experience. I have learned so much and still learning every day but getting to know more about the human body every day is what fuels my ambition to keep moving forward with my career.
