Meet Zoe Black of Colorado Foothills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoe Black

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out as a little artist with big dreams. I graduated with a graphic design degree in Denver. In addition to art, have an immense passion for psychology, nature, and helping the youth. I am currently a freelance designer always looking for new clients!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’ve definitely had my share of struggles (as an artist naturally) 😉

In order to support my art making, I became a teacher. There have definitely been a fair amount of challenges due to COVID that have changed the course of my career and my life.

If I had to go back, I don’t think I would change anything despite some struggles. I only hope to constantly improve. Art will always be a part of my life no matter what.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in illustration (both digitally and otherwise) painting, and doing art with my students. I try to sneak in an art therapy lesson (I just don’t tell them it’s therapy.) They love it, without even realizing how it’s helping them.

I think the most unique thing about my style as an artist is that I can be very minimalistic and practical when it comes to designs for my clients. However, when it comes to my own art, you will see a very different side, as it is very influenced by surrealism.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
There are so many things I have learned from COVID. I think it really tested what people are made of.

The biggest lesson I gained from all of it was how fragile everything really is, you cannot take any moment for granted.
