We recently had the chance to connect with Melissa Armstrong and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Melissa, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day are sacred. I wake up early, while the house is still quiet, and spend time reading my Bible and journaling, usually outside on the patio as the sun comes up. That stillness sets the tone for my day. After that, I get in a workout before my kids wake up. It’s my way of grounding myself physically, mentally, and spiritually before the demands of the day begin.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Melissa Armstrong, a Trauma-Informed Functional Health Coach and founder of Holistic Health, where I help women break the cycles of stress and anxiety that are keeping them stuck in survival mode by addressing the root cause—biochemically, physically, emotionally, and spiritually—and working to restore the balance within the body so she can reclaim her energy and confidence, and show up from a place of peace for herself and her family.
My approach is deeply personal because I’ve lived this journey. I overcame a traumatic childhood and years of chronic stress through faith, functional healing, and nervous system regulation. Now I guide other women on their own path to healing, using the same tools that transformed my life.
I’m also a wife, a homeschooling mom of two boys, and someone who’s deeply passionate about building a life rooted in faith, freedom, and family. We’re creating our dream life, splitting time between the mountains and the beach, traveling the world, and raising our boys with intention and purpose.
Through my signature Root.Rewire.Restore. program, speaking engagements, my podcast Holistic Health with Melissa, and frequent courses and workshops, I’m building a community where healing is accessible, wholeness is possible, and women are empowered to live from overflow instead of overwhelm—creating deep, lasting transformation from the inside out. This isn’t about a quick fix; it’s about equipping her with the tools, insight, and nervous system resilience to step into an entirely new way of living—where peace replaces pressure, energy replaces exhaustion, and the life she once dreamed of becomes her new reality. And once she experiences that kind of freedom, returning to survival mode is no longer an option.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed I was not loved or lovable. This is a belief that cast a large shadow over much of my life. It’s a painful story that shaped how I saw myself and related to others. While I’ve made significant progress in releasing this belief, it still surfaces sometimes, reminding me that healing is an ongoing journey. But today, I know my worth isn’t defined by past wounds, and I’m committed to embracing that truth more fully every day.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
It was a slow evolution. About 6 to 7 years ago, I reached a turning point where I realized my story wasn’t just my burden to carry but was actually a source of strength and healing. I came to see that sharing my pain wasn’t just for me, but a responsibility I had to the world. That shift transformed how I show up and serve others, turning my past struggles into a powerful catalyst for change.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies the health industry tells itself—and the public—is that true health comes from a pill or a procedure. As a former RN, I witnessed firsthand how the system often focuses on managing symptoms rather than fostering real healing. The industry, intentionally or not, can keep people stuck in cycles of chronic illness instead of addressing root causes.
True healing isn’t found in a quick fix. It comes from living in alignment and balance on every level—physically, mentally, and spiritually. We need nourishing food, sunlight, stress management, nervous system regulation, meaningful connection, and time in nature. Healing is holistic and lifelong, and that’s the message I’m passionate about sharing.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people remember me as someone who showed up fully—with courage, compassion, and unwavering faith—to help others heal and reclaim their lives. I want the story to be one of transformation: that I not only overcame my own pain and trauma but used it to light the way for others. That through my work, my family, and my life, I helped break generational cycles and empowered women to live boldly, free from fear and overwhelm. Ultimately, I want to be known as someone who made a lasting difference by bringing hope, healing, and wholeheartedness to the world.
