Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Hicks.
Aaron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started Precision Photos during the beginning of Covid-19…well; actually, it began a little earlier. I had been nursing in the Panhandle region of Florida and after working ER and the Critical Care side for a while I began to experience some significant burnout and knew a change was needed. After some discussions with my family on what to do, I decided to pursue a personal dream of going on a nice long cyclotour to try and find some perspective and clear my mind. So, I packed up the panniers, brother hauled the household goods and I set towards my “final” destination of Denver, Colorado with a bit of rambling about along the way.
After doing a bit of soul-searching riding along that long white line and arriving at the terminus in Arvada, Co; I felt I needed to get back in touch with a large influence in my roots so to speak. I wanted to do something that allowed me to express my creative side but also something that would provided a steady and needed workflow. So, I decided as a self-admitted “bit of a nerd” figured I needed a laser in my life!
After the laser arrived it’d been the hot new toy on the block. It’s been great to be able to provide both personal and commercial needs and to really engage some outside-the-box thinking on tackling a few projects I’ve been tasked with. Given the versatility of the available mediums to work with and the large working bed, there isn’t too many projects that I can’t tackle.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road but it hasn’t been filled with too many obstacles, or at least it doesn’t seem like I have felt that pressure yet. I would say my biggest hurdle is one that most new business owners struggle with and that is truly starting from the ground up…its A LOT of work! It has been a great experience, one that I am learning from daily and have loved to explore and be able to show others. All in all, it’s been a great learning and growth period and I’m just looking forward towards the horizon; always forwards and ever steady.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Anyone can feel free to reach out with any ideas or jobs they might need. If you are a company or individual looking to launch any size creative project, then you’re the client for me. My passion is curating and abstract idea or vision and then bringing it to life. From small projects like bookmarks to large art installs, the sky is truly the limit.
