Rising Stars: Meet Amanda Harding of Timnath

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Harding.

Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dr. Amanda Harding, MD, is the founder of Zzap Health, a modern healthcare practice built on the belief that medicine should be personal, accessible, and empowering. Trained in evidence-based medicine and deeply committed to patient relationships, Dr. Harding created Zzap Health to restore time, trust, and transparency in healthcare.

What began as a patient-centered direct primary care practice has evolved into a comprehensive whole-health and wellness destination. In response to patient needs, Zzap Health expanded to include a medical spa, seamlessly integrating aesthetic and restorative treatments with preventive and primary care. This evolution reflects Dr. Harding’s holistic philosophy — that feeling well, aging confidently, and optimizing health are all connected.

Today, Zzap Health blends primary care, wellness, and medical aesthetics into one cohesive experience, supporting patients at every stage of life.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Building Zzap Health was anything but easy. What began as a vision to create a patient-first, whole-health practice required starting a business entirely from scratch—navigating licensing, financing, and systems without the backing of a large organization. Just as momentum was building, the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented uncertainty, temporary closures, and constant adaptation in an already fragile healthcare landscape.

In the post-COVID period, new challenges emerged, including prolonged construction delays and logistical setbacks while rebuilding and expanding to the current physical space which allowed for the evolution of Zzap Medical Spa. Yet each obstacle reinforced the mission behind Zzap Health: to remain adaptable, resilient, and deeply committed to patient care that didn’t follow the norm. Through every disruption, the practice continued to evolve—emerging stronger, more intentional, and better equipped to serve the community with comprehensive, integrated healthcare.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work centers on personalized medical care, designing healthcare around patients’ real lives while leveraging technology to improve access and experience. I specialize in innovative, relationship-driven medicine that blends clinical excellence with modern solutions.

In 2018, I launched a virtual telemedicine platform, giving families the ability to essentially have a pediatrician in their home well before virtual care became widespread. I’ve also partnered with ActivArmor, introducing 3D-printed casts that revolutionize traditional cast care. Looking ahead, I continue to develop and integrate technologies that create greater ease, efficiency, and connection throughout the patient care journey.

What sets my work apart is a commitment to innovation without losing the human touch—using technology to enhance, not replace, meaningful patient relationships.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Saskatchewan, Canada, in a family of entrepreneurs. My parents owned their own business and retired by age 50, which gave me an early appreciation for independence, resilience, and the courage to build something from the ground up. While business was part of my upbringing, medicine was not—I became the first in my family to enter the medical field, driven purely by passion and purpose.

As a child, I spent a lot of time in doctors’ offices. Between severe allergies requiring multiple shots weekly along with testing that included more than 90 shots once a year and poorly managed asthma, healthcare often felt overwhelming and impersonal. I remember feeling like my voice didn’t matter—that I was being treated, but not truly seen. Those experiences stayed with me. At age 10, I made a quiet but powerful decision: if I could change the medical experience for even one child—making it feel safer, kinder, and more welcoming—I would consider my work meaningful.

I carried that commitment with me through every stage of my education. I played college hockey, learning discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, and ultimately chose to attend medical school outside of Canada to pursue my dream of becoming a pediatrician. Every step of the journey shaped not just the physician I would become, but the kind of care I strive to provide—care that listens first, sees the whole person, and treats families as true partners.
