Rising Stars: Meet Ashley Brauer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Brauer. 

Hi Ashley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My love of hair started as a teen! It started with coloring my own hair in high school & it slowly morphed into me experimenting & doing my friends’ & family’s hair in my parents’ kitchen. I had humble beginnings to say the least! Thankfully, I have come a long way since then. 

After high school, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in marketing management but still had a deep desire to work in the hair industry so I went to cosmetology school. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I quickly fell in love with all of the creativity & ways to make people feel beautiful. 

Shortly after receiving my cosmetology license, I opened my own bridal business in Omaha, NE to provide the flexibility I needed. Life was busy between being a wife, mama & entrepreneur. 

Two years ago, my husband & I decided to move our family to the Denver area! I felt this was the perfect opportunity for me to start fresh & pursue something new! I focused heavily on hair extension education, found a like-minded stylist to work with (Caitlin Friend at Lyon’s Mane) & worked hard to market myself on Instagram. I’ve been running ever since & have enjoyed every minute of it! 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Juggling motherhood, homeschooling, a big move & my career has been quite the challenge but I believe the struggles & hardship are what drove me to work harder & gotten me to where I am today! 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently a hair extension specialist! I live for a big transformation but also love the subtle changes & confidence that extensions can provide! 

I focus heavily on the health of my client’s hair & scalp so that nothing is compromised while giving them a look they love! I am also consistently seeking out new & trending education to keep my skills up to date & ahead of the curve! 

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The hair industry is always changing & evolving so I’m sure we can anticipate some pretty big shifts & changes… We just won’t know till they happen!
