Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolae Sapoval.
Hi Nicolae, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I remember that I started as a singer at the age of 5. At this age, I already recognized my passion for music and the feelings performing it could create in myself and others.
After that, at the age of 13, I decided to expand his musical horizons at the “First Music School” in Tighina, Moldova, where I focused my studies on musical theory and the acoustic guitar. At this time, I also discovered the deep beauty of electronic music affirmed when I played at the events in his high school in Firladeni, which is in the Causeni district.
In all this period of time, I also was curious about the field of music production. After two years, in 2011, being inspired all this time by the Swedish producer, Avicii, I started to learn Fl Studio. Another couple of years later, I switched the DAW and learned Ableton Live, and continue to write music in it. It was only a habit until, in 2019, I expanded my skill set, ultimately earning the first signed track with 7 Armies Music Label.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s still a hard road because even if I released a couple of tracks on labels like 7armies music, desfase records, the purr, elastic dimension records, I still feel that I didn’t find myself really well in it, in this style of music and every day I’m trying to find my sound while I’m producing music.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I was studying Communication and Public Relations and now I’m working at the Radio USV. I think that I’m good in the musical field though. But the radio gave me the opportunity to play my radio shows there and to connect with other people.
I’m proud that I’ve played abroad, in Crete, Greece and I’m proud because of this (music) I’ve met a lot of smart, creative people and I’m still doing that. Also, I’ve got a gig in the U.S but because of the COVID-19, we needed to cancel it. It’s hard to get a visa at this moment.
But I’m looking forward to play in other countries too and get in touch with interesting people!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory it was when I was going in the forest during the summer or late autumn. It’s incredible how beautiful it’s there. That music of the leaves makes you feel so good.
Definitely, there are more memories. Not just one. I’ve spent a lot of good times with my family, my brother, sister, mother, and father and I’m thankful for that!
