Rising Stars: Meet Ben Lohle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Lohle. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Ben Lohle

Redlands started as a solo project of vocalist Ben Lohle, releasing two albums The Lonewolf and Adventurer back to back. Selling out numerous shows, wowing audiences on the Vans Warped Tour, and winning the hottest radio contest in Denver.

Redlands has continued to make waves in the music industry opening for Imagine Dragons and Dashboard Confessional, as well as catching the attention of esteemed publications such as Pitchfork, Diffuser, and GroundSounds. Their pop-infused rock n’ roll sound has also landed them a number of TV placements with CBS NFL, Comedy Central, MTV, and many more.

Redlands was named Denver’s next and upcoming artist in 2016 through Channel 93.3 KTLC’s Hometown for the Holidays, claiming the number-one spot.

The single that earned them this position, “Big Talk,” delves into the empty promises often found in naive and unfulfilling love, while their hit “Hollow Bodies” explores the attempts of lovers to escape their realities. Through their music, Redlands captures intimate moments of growing up, mental health, and young love, resonating with listeners of all ages.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There were and still have been many challenges along the way over the years. Especially being an independent band self-funding and growing up leads to many obstacles. As life throws itself at you whether it’s starting a family or simply questioning the pursuit of a band has led all of us to ask ourselves if this is the path we’ll follow.

This band started as a solo act and has seen a handful of musicians come and go over the years along with a pandemic that had us questioning if we’d ever be able to play again. As a band, we decided to move in together and start creating what would be our first full-length album “Vacation Apocalypse”.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I believe creating music that is fun and relatable is so important for this era of music. I know we love to create an environment that is not only energetic but also a place where we love to see our fans old and new have a good time.
