Rising Stars: Meet Billy Rood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Billy Rood.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my career in Chicago as a Cinematographer and Fashion Photographer. I even had the opportunity doing a social media campaign with Burberry that led to my face on Michigan Avenue! After the support and success I had in Chicago, I then started to work in NYC covering New York Fashion Week and doing social media content for Saks Fifth Avenue. I was incredibly busy working with brands such as Oscar De La Renta, Macy’s, Nike and more. I was doing what I thought I loved but was exhausted all the time and felt I needed to make a change.

So I stopped shooting and listening to my mind and started to really discover what my soul wanted to do with my life. I took about 2 years off to contemplate and rediscover myself and what I wanted to do with my life. During this time I took a spiritual dive into reading, meditating and learning from a spiritual teacher who had a Mystery School in Romania. It was during 2012-2015 I discovered my new sense of self and who I wanted to become.

Like most spiritual journeys, I had to confront my ego and heal all the limitations and beliefs in lack. So I faced my fears about money, work, relationships and time. I also become heavily obsessed with symbolism in movies, tv, books, stories and life and wanted to understand how our consciousness creates our reality. So I took all this knowledge and practiced it into my life by facing those fears. Like Neo in the Matrix, I grew the strength and energy to confront my Ego (which is symbolized as Agent Smith) so I could discover my true self and be able to express it freely without being controlled by thoughts/voices or my mind.

This was during 2015-present I created my platform FIFTY8Magazine.com to express what I’ve learned and help empower others to do the same. I use symbolism in movies to convey these complex aspects that we cannot see, regarding our psyche. I discovered my true purpose doing this work and am now able to express my soul in order to help others create the reality of their dreams. Especially now during these times, I hope to help others navigate reality so they can experience only what they desire rather than the limited/negative experiences of the ego mind.

I moved to Colorado in 2021 and am now doing this work on a more international scale. I am now working at Gaia.com which is an international streaming service for spiritual content. I am creating content for them and helping them reach a younger audience along with creating humor and laughter to help heal all turmoil and chaos we are all going through. I hope to continue to inspire, guide, empower and lighten the load for many during this time of chaos and help enlighten others to what’s really going on so we can co-create a new reality of our dreams.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Anyone on a spiritual journey knows that conquering the ego self is not an easy path. Learning about your own limitations and negative beliefs is painful to process. I had to face all the reasons why I didn’t believe in myself, talents and abilities. I had to face my fears and do what was terrifying in order to find true happiness. This is why I love movies/fairy tales because they show us the path through villains that symbolize the ego/mind and in order to find true unconditional love of self. But finding enlightenment – inner peace, happiness and joy is worth all the suffering in the end.

But I had to struggle with a nine years relationship ending, letting go my corgi and moving to a new state without a clue in the world why. I just had to follow my heart and let go all the things that felt out of alignment and that is always very painful. No matter how much you love someone, we all have to change. Sometimes that means walking alone. But when you do change, the other side is much brighter and more magnificent than you could ever imagine.

I am a reality consultant and creator. I help others to discover how powerful and amazing they are through the power of movies/storytelling and how to create the reality of their dreams. By sharing knowledge and helping people to remember who they truly are, your entire reality can change. I’ve had clients completely heal their bodies, make more money than they ever have, find new jobs, relationships and more. This work is not only meaningful but will create a life of happiness and joy in every moment.

I also have a design studio that specializes in supporting entrepreneurs who are in the field or raising consciousness. I provide exceptional web design, intuitive online tools, expert digital marketing strategies, backend SEO, Photography + Video + Zoom Workshops + Podcasts, Creative + Art Direction for conscious content to support your dream and visually express your inner life, your energy.

As you also know I am a professional imagemaker and storyteller. I have over 15+ years of experience in the fashion, commercial, lifestyle, product, food, beauty and entertainment industry ranging from stills to motion.

I also have 5+ years as a Creative Director in NYC, LA, and Chicago. My creative abilities range from photography, cinematography, film producing, directing, writing, video editing and marketing.

I have worked with brands ranging from Nike, Amazon, Burberry, Oscar De La Renta, Saks, Macy’s and more. I am now based in Colorado but am open for remote work and travel. I am also represented by FORD Artists.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I am lucky! I find luck and only good news everywhere I go. I have had the honor of finding amazing people that have always helped me on my journey to push me into the unknown and the support system to get me through the scary times. I wouldn’t be where I am without luck. But I also know I’ve created the luck in my life because my mantra is, “I only hear good news!”
