Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Graham.
Hi Blake, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to sports, athletics, and high performance, so getting into sports chiropractic felt like a natural fit. Early on, I realized I didn’t just want to help people get out of pain- I wanted to help them move better, perform better, and get back to doing what they love.
After finishing chiropractic school, I jumped into the world of sports medicine, earning my certification through the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians, an organization I have the honor of currently serving as President. That path opened a lot of doors for me to work with athletes at all levels, and I’ve been fortunate to be part of some incredible events over the years, like the World Athletics Championships, the FISU Winter World University Games, and the European Women’s Fistball Championships. I’ve also worked as a team chiropractor for groups like the Denton Diablos FC, FCD Women’s Soccer, and the UTA Wheelchair Basketball team.
These experiences have shaped my approach to care, combining hands-on treatment with a focus on performance, movement, and long-term health. Now, based in Denver and working with Delta S Performance, with locations in both Denver and Golden, I’m able to continue that mission at a deeper level. At Delta S, we help active individuals of all levels, from elite athletes to weekend warriors, not only recover but also reach their peak performance. Our team creates personalized plans to make people stronger, faster, and smarter, ensuring they get back to doing what they love, pain-free and performing at their best. It’s about making lasting changes that help people thrive, no matter their goals.
I also have the fortune of being the Director of Performance and Sports Medicine for the US Fistball Association, a sport not too many people are familiar with. It is a great game that is played worldwide and in major international games like The World Games, where our Women’s National Team will be competing this August in Chengdu, China! The fistball community is a lot of fun, and of course with it’s roots in German heritage, there may be a few beers shared after the games conclude.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely not always a smooth road! But I think that’s part of what makes this journey meaningful. Like most people in healthcare and sports performance, I’ve had my share of challenges. Early on, it was figuring out how to break into the sports world and earn trust in high-performance environments. A lot of those first opportunities came from asking around and volunteering, showing up consistently, and proving I could handle the demands of working with athletes under pressure.
Balancing the business side with the clinical side has also been a learning curve. You’re not just treating patients, you’re also managing logistics, travel, communication with other professionals, and sometimes even working with limited resources, especially in international or adaptive sports settings. It’s also a balance with personal life, having to leave family for weeks at a time volunteering and sometimes not earning a paycheck, but being surrounded by loved ones who support your mission makes the journey that much better.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in sports chiropractic and performance care, working with athletes and active individuals who either want to get out of pain or take their training to the next level. My approach blends hands-on treatment with movement-based rehab, strength and conditioning principles, and sports science tailored to the individual. I’m not just looking at where it hurts; I’m trying to figure out why it’s happening and how we can fix it long-term.
What I’m most proud of is being able to work across such a wide range of settings- from international competitions to adaptive sports to local athletes trying to stay in the game. While it’s amazing to get to work events like the World Athletics Championships and the FISU Winter Games, I get just as excited about helping someone crush their first 5K or get back on the field after an injury.
I like to think what sets me apart is the way I approach each person as an individual, not just a diagnosis or an injury. Whether someone is competing at a high level or just trying to stay active and pain-free, it is important to take the time to really understand their goals, their movement patterns, and what’s holding them back. I’m big on communication, collaboration, and making sure the plan we create actually fits their lifestyle. I want people to walk away feeling heard, understood, and confident that they’re getting care that’s both effective and tailored to them.
At the end of the day, I just really love helping people move better, feel stronger, and stay doing what they love. That’s what drives my desire to continue doing what I do.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
I have always loved the quote “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”. While every young sports chiropractor wants to be the next team doctor for the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, it takes time to develop the skills and create the opportunities to serve those athletes and medical teams. There is also no opportunity too small- I began my sports chiropractic career working with the local high school lacrosse team, volunteering with soccer clubs, and meeting local coaches working with one patient at a time. Each of those experiences gave me more learning opportunities on how to be a better doctor with the next patient.
The patient who is on your table or injured on the sideline does not care who you have treated or what events you have done- they care that you care and that you want them to be safe and healthy.
