Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Blake.
Hi Bre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always loved photography and working with people. I started photographing families in a small local portrait studio and then I realized I wanted to give them a different photography experience. While those sessions used to be rushed and very rigid, I’ve geared my sessions to be fun and easy going. I’ve found that the outcome is more genuine and families look forward to the experience.
Since then, I’ve been able to expand what I offer to my clients. I get the opportunity to photograph weddings, seniors, events, businesses etc. I love that my work takes me to new places and allows me to meet amazing people every day. Getting to make people smile for a living truly makes me feel like I have the best job in the world.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Running a business can definitely be challenging, but I’ve learned something new with every step (and misstep) along the way. I’d love to say that after 18 years in photography I’m “seasoned,” but the truth is there’s always room to grow. Each day brings new opportunities to try something different, and my work continues to evolve.
Staying true to myself and my photography style while keeping up with trends can be tricky, but over the years I’ve learned to embrace the idea that art is subjective. As long as I create something my clients will truly cherish, I know I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a photographer specializing in family portraiture, though I photograph a wide range of sessions and events throughout the year. I love working with kids of all ages — and adults too!
Recently, I was honored to be voted Arvada’s Best of the Best for the second consecutive year. One of my favorite things to hear from families after a session is how much fun they had and how they’re already looking forward to the next one.
It means so much to me to watch families grow through my lens and to know that my clients trust me to capture some of their most precious memories.
What makes you happy?
Hearing how much families cherish their photos from years past makes me so happy. They often tell me how much they love seeing their loved ones smiling, or how a particular image brings them right back to that special day — whether it was their wedding, a newborn session, or their annual family photos.
I feel so grateful to have a front-row seat to some of life’s most meaningful moments, and it’s an honor to capture those memories for the families I work with.
