Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlin Elizabeth
Hi Caitlin, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed in the power of art to express emotions words can’t reach, but it wasn’t until my own recovery that I truly understood its potential as a tool for healing. Through my personal experiences, I found solace in creative expression, using it to process emotions, rebuild my sense of self, and ultimately, connect with others on a deeper level.
The positive impact art had on my life was so profound that it led me to create Expressions Sessions by CaitSpace Ltd, a platform dedicated to making creative healing accessible to everyone. I started by offering free art groups, knowing firsthand how vital a safe, expressive space can be.
Beyond visual art, my journey has expanded into performance arts and deeper explorations of creative expression. Each workshop, whether it’s painting, movement, or mixed-media creation, is designed to foster connection, self-discovery, and healing. I also offer private sessions through Edenology Holistic Wellness, another space that aligns with my values of intentional healing and community and understands the importance of recovery.
My goal is simple: to inspire others to embrace their creativity as a sanctuary, just as I have. Art gave me a path forward, and now I share that path with others, helping them find their own voice, resilience, and beauty in the creative process.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Any meaningful journey comes with its challenges, and mine has been no exception. In the beginning, one of the biggest struggles was sustainability. I was deeply committed to making creative healing accessible, which meant offering free sessions whenever possible. However, funding everything myself quickly became unsustainable, and I found myself in a difficult position—wanting to provide this service but struggling to keep up with the costs.
There were moments when I questioned how I could continue, but I knew I had to find a way. Over time, I started researching funding options and exploring ways to keep my mission alive. That’s when I connected with Recover Simply, which became the fiscal sponsor for CaitSpace Ltd. This partnership opened the door to grants and financial support that allowed me to keep providing free and donation-based sessions. This also allows for people who believe in what I am doing and want to help to make a charitable donation. Additionally, I completed my certifications in Therapeutic Arts and Peer & Family Recovery Support which enables organizations to bill insurance for my therapeutic art sessions.
Beyond financial challenges, there have also been the personal struggles that come with building something from the ground up—balancing passion with practicality, navigating self-doubt, and learning to trust the process. But each challenge has only reinforced my belief in this work and the importance of making creative healing available to those who need it most
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As an artist, I specialize in mindful art, with a particular focus on Neurographic Art. This creative process resonated with me deeply because it combines art-making with mindfulness, allowing individuals to tap into a calm, focused state while expressing themselves. Neurographic Art is so simple yet powerful—it’s a process of drawing lines and shapes that help release mental blockages and create new neural pathways in the brain. I love how accessible it is, and how it can be done by anyone, regardless of artistic experience. Most my groups begin with a short meditation and then a guided painting activity.
The beauty of Neurographic Art lies in its therapeutic qualities. It offers numerous benefits, including stress reduction, emotional expression, and helps create new neuropathways.
I’ve found that Neurographic Art can be a beautiful tool for anyone looking to reconnect with themselves and their creative spirit, offering a calming yet enriching way to explore one’s emotions and thoughts. And equally important is the aspect of making connections with others. My groups offer a way to connect with others, build up community and enjoy creating art while listening to
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, life wasn’t easy. My childhood was filled with challenges, and at times, it felt like survival was the main focus. But even in those difficult moments, I found myself drawn to creativity—it became a quiet refuge, a space where I could express what I didn’t have words for. Whether I realized it at the time or not, art was my way of making sense of the world around me.
Those early struggles shaped me into the person I am today. They gave me a deep understanding of resilience, the importance of self-expression, and the need for safe spaces where people can process their emotions. That’s why I’m so passionate about what I do now—because I know what it’s like to feel unheard, and I also know how transformative creative expression can be in reclaiming your own voice.
