Rising Stars: Meet Christian Millet

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Millet.

Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Lima-Peru; I devoted myself since childhood to the arts and after high school pursued a few degrees including Fine Arts, Graphic Design, and Interior design. Along the way, while doing small art commissions and trying to become a living artist, became a writer and publish two small books, and somehow landed an acting career doing theater and soap operas for a short period.

But my life didn’t have a sense of balance and at the time was highly chaotic. So at the given opportunity relocated 2003 to the United States to become fluent in the language, take a break, and go back to my roots. Well… I’m still here!

Lima- Vegas- San Diego – Dallas- Denver

I have been an active professional artist for the last 20 years. Along the way became a co-owner, curator, and director for a couple of galleries in DFW. In late 2014 after exhibiting three solo shows in the United States and Europe within the same year, decided to take a break from art and dedicated me to other adventures. It was a long hiatus that lasted nearly 7 years. Covid finally snap me out of hibernation and broke into the art scene in a completely new city.

Talk gallery and Gordon allowed me to shine and mount a solo exhibit. It was a great experience that created strong friendships and connections; not long after I opened Rising gallery, a new contemporary art gallery located in Englewood to elevate new emerging artists around the globe and be part of a great community rising on the other side of 285.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A smooth road is boring, back in the day I just compete in rally racing, I’m just to the bumps, jumps, slides, breaks, flats, and complete shutdown. Is it more fun this way?

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Aside from art, I had always maintained a career as a construction project manager, estimator, and consultant. What set me apart from others is my ability to transform, adapt and be able to think and act with both sides of the brain.

While I’m highly creative I have an entrepreneurial and business side that I’m constantly combining trying to find the perfect balance. I am most proud of what I’m doing now and what ill be doing next. I do not believe in the glorification of my past.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
At a young age, I was taught by my mother to adapt and be able to let go of things. The important things are the ones you remember not the ones you keep.
