Rising Stars: Meet Courtney Olson

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Olson.

Courtney Olson

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My father was the first sponsor to donate to Koats 4 Kids when they were just getting started 18 years ago. My father was the second youngest of 8 children, and he knew what it was like to go without a coat in a Colorado winter.

He sponsored every year, and we loved attending the gala. He passed away in 2009 from cancer, and the Koats 4 Kids committee reached out to me not long after and asked me to join them. In 2012, the board director asked me to take over for her, and I immediately accepted.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think running a non-profit is always going to be a challenge, especially when it comes to finding funding. But I want to make my dad proud, so it has never bothered me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
My husband Andrew and I own our own business. We own residential and commercial properties. It is fun working together and having a permanent lunch date!

I am most proud of our daughters and what amazing humans they are becoming and traveling the world together. The main thing that sets me apart from others is that I’m looking for ways to help people, whether babysitting so your friends can have a date night or collecting 300 coats!
