Rising Stars: Meet Curci

Today we’d like to introduce you to Curci. 

Hi Curci, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I was around 8 years old, I started writing verses over other songs. Once I got to middle school, there was a class that I was lucky enough to get into that taught me how to count bars, properly structure songs and make beats. A few years later, I met some kids that had recording setups in their house and I realized that you didn’t need to pay for studio time, you could just get software and a microphone to do everything yourself. After learning that, I started recording and releasing mixtapes. This led me to meeting my business partner and DJ, Tico. We started touring the US and created our record label “Conscious Minds.” We independently released my first album “Figuring It Out” selling out in stores across the world. After that, we released a few more projects and toured Europe with the legendary hip-hop group “The Pharcyde.” 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up in Colorado, there wasn’t many people to look up to in my industry; so, we had to learn everything on our own. Everything we’ve done has been trial and error. I don’t know how to explain how hard it is to become a professional musician without any industry connections to give you a leg up. So, this has been years of head to the ground, grind, grind grind. This is probably the hardest profession that you could ever get into. Everything is a challenge. 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m an artist. I write, produce, run a label, design clothes, and direct videos. I’m most proud of being able to deeply connect with people all over the world. As far as what sets me apart from others, I just try to be as honest as I can be in my music. My whole message is to let everyone know it’s ok to be themselves. Individuality. 

Any big plans?
When covid is over (hopefully) going back to touring overseas. Releasing my next album. Helping my friends release their music and progressing their careers. And making so much more SUPER COOL ART!
