Rising Stars: Meet Elizabeth Homuth of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Homuth.

Elizabeth Homuth

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was introduced to the permanent makeup industry from my mother, Sam. She began her career in permanent makeup in the 80’s and of course, I became her guinea pig, she was one of the pioneers of this industry. She became quite successful with her company MPi Clinic, after I completed college, I decided to follow in her footsteps. I graduated from her program in 1999 in San Diego, California. The permanent makeup and paramedical industry have changed dramatically the past 7-8 years for the better. The tattoo and permanent makeup fields coming together, have really helped open up the doors for more creative techniques with realism, all while maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation and sterilization protocols.

My career has been so wonderful to me, I have worked in plastic surgeons offices here in Denver, spas and salons in Grand Junction, Denver, Stapleton and Parker. I have owned 3 salon/spas over the last 26 years and I am still completely enamored with this industry. It is constantly evolving for the better and providing these life changing services brings me great joy.

I currently work with 7-8 plastic surgeons around the Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins and Vail communities providing paramedical services at my offices. These include 3D nipple and areola tattooing/pigmentation, scar revision and camouflage and permanent makeup. My business, Paramedical Ink Artistry is conveniently located at 2 locations, the first is off of I25 and Hampden Blvd. and the second is in Stylish Beauty Collective Spa in Parker.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My career has been bumpy at times, my services have been considered luxury services. When the economy takes a hit, my business does as well. Luckily I have been willing to expand my services accordingly and have been able to be in this business as long as I have. Thankfully, many insurance companies now are willing to reimburse breast cancer survivors for 3D nipple and areola tattoo/repigmentation.

Also the permanent makeup and tattoo industry, didn’t work well together in the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s, but with time they have been willing to work together and to help each other be successful. I love that we have evolved over the last several years and instead of working against each other, we work with each other. Tattoo artists are truly artists and they should be commended for sharing their artistic techniques with our industry.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creating natural looking permanent makeup through color, face shape, eye shape and skin color. I believe eyebrows should look like hair, giving a more natural appearance like your brow hair. I also like to create eyeliner that creates a darker and fuller lash line and then build the eyeliner from there according to your eye shape.

I provide 3D nipple and areola tattooing for breast cancer survivors or gender affirming care giving back their natural beauty. I also work with breast lift and breast augmentation clients helping with scar treatments and areola size. I offer scar treatments for a variety of scars with inkless treatments and ink treatments depending on the color of the scar presented and the texture of the scar. These techniques can give clients peace of mind and boost their confidence.

I have been creative my entire life, when I was in high school my mom and I used to paint businesses windows for the holidays. I have been huge into art, drawing, painting, crafting, weaving and sewing since I was very young.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I feel so lucky to be able to do what I love everyday, being creative and helping clients. Many of my clients have insecurities they have carried for years, making them look and feel beautiful makes me happy.
