Rising Stars: Meet Elizabeth Sciascia of Northern Colorado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Sciascia.

Hi Elizabeth, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved people and art. Creating community is something I am incredibly passionate about and I believe art and artistic expression can help foster an even stronger community. A few years ago, a good friend of mine knew I a was an artist and she asked me to paint her wedding live and I thought, why not! I would love to paint a wedding live. What I thought would turn out to be a one-night only event turned into other friends asking me to paint their weddings and then I turned that passion into a business. I now paint weddings live, in-person, and get guests to paint along with me and I have even expanded my services and I now paint watercolor guest portraits.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think anyone who starts their own business faces both personal and logistic struggles but the love for your business and your passion makes it all worth it. A personal struggle when I first started my business a few years ago was imposter syndrome. After booking my first wedding from painting my friends weddings, I was so nervous and felt like I was faking owning a real business. But over time, you become more confident and settled in your business and your abilities. Logistically, it is always a hustle to find more clients to keep your business going but of course, it is always worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer two services:

1) Live wedding painting: This live and interactive experience starts before the wedding begins and continues on for the entire duration of the ceremony and reception. I paint the first kiss, holding hands at the altar, or whatever the happy couple decides ahead of time. Throughout the day/evening everyone will be able to witness this interactive form of entertainment as the couple is being painted. I even get as many guests as possible to paint along with me so all your loved ones have a piece in making this forever keepsake.

2) Watercolor Guest Portraits: I will be set up and paint for the duration of your cocktail hour and reception (Or however long you have booked me for). As guests come up to my table, I create hand-painted, 5×7” portraits that’s as unique as they are! It’s a beautiful, personal keepsake they’ll cherish forever. While guests enjoy the event, I’ll be painting away, and they can watch the artwork come to life in real-time!

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love collaborating with others in the wedding industry! Anyway we can support each other, I am happy to be apart of it.

As far as collaboration goes, I would love to partner with a venue to do some kind of free wedding portrait giveaway or showcase artwork at specific venues. I think doing a styled shoot would also be very fun and of course always referring couples to vendors I trust and vice versa!

As far as support goes, referrals and testimonials mean so much to me. Nothing means more to me than when couples/vendors leave reviews and let me know that I was able to help make their special day better.

I also have Instagram and Tik Tok (e_sciascia_art) and, of course, am always happy to do shared posts with others in the industry!
