Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Beltran.
Hi Emily, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I actually began my photography journey back in my freshman year of high school, when I picked up a camera just for fun and had no idea it would eventually shape my entire future. What started as taking photos of friends and school events slowly grew into a passion, and over the years I kept teaching myself, investing in my craft, and saying yes to any opportunity that helped me grow.
2025 has been an especially meaningful and transformative year. While watching my business truly flourish, I also stepped into a new season of life by marrying my middle school sweetheart. Becoming a wife and building a life together with my husband has deeply influenced the way I approach my work, with more presence, empathy, and intention for the moments that matter most. This year, I photographed nearly 30 weddings along with countless sessions. It is a year I will never forget, and one I will always be grateful for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Being the only entrepreneur in my family meant that, at first, I didn’t really have someone who already knew how to run a business to guide me through the logistics, the systems, and the overwhelming “behind the scenes” work that comes with photography. Learning how to manage a business while also growing as an artist was a huge challenge and still is in many ways.
But I also don’t want it to sound like I was completely on my own. One of the biggest blessings has been my dad. Even without any background in entrepreneurship, he jumped in with me, learning, researching, and doing everything he could to understand this world so he could support me. I’m incredibly grateful for that. I’ve been lucky to also have amazing colleagues and friends in the photography community who have been generous with advice and encouragement
My other big challenge has been finding a healthy work life balance. When you’re passionate about what you do, it’s easy to let the business take over, and I’ve had to learn how to grow my career while still protecting time for myself and the people I love. It’s been a learning curve, but each struggle has helped me become a stronger and more grounded business owner.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer who specializes in couples, engagements, and weddings, capturing love stories in a way that feels intentional, emotional, and true to each couple.
What I’m most proud of is the experience I give my clients. I never want to just show up and take photos; I want people to feel seen, understood, and comfortable enough to be fully themselves in front of my camera. My goal is always to create a space where people can genuinely connect with each other, and I think that authenticity and the relationships I build with my clients is what sets my work apart.
I’m also proud of the way I put my whole heart into telling a story that feels personal and timeless. At the end of the day, I want people to look back at their photos and feel not just how it looked, but how it felt.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is understanding the true weight of the role I play. In wedding photography, it’s never “just another workday.” I’m walking into one of the most meaningful days of someone’s life, and my job is to honor that fully. I’ve learned how important it is to set aside whatever is happening in my personal life and show up with complete presence, intention, and professionalism.
This work carries responsibility, but it’s a responsibility I’m so grateful for. Every wedding reminds me how important it is to serve my couples well and to protect their experience, preserve their memories, and treat their day with the care it deserves. That mindset has shaped not only how I photograph but how I run my entire business.
