Today we’d like to introduce you to Fiya Mayne.
Hi Fiya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I find my existence revolves heavily around “overcoming.” My upbringing wasn’t exactly EASY. Family life at home was tough, and overall, I went through A LOT as an adolescent. Learning how to cope with life’s darker realities became a constant balance I was searching for, on a daily basis.
I’ve survived sexual assault as a child, routine emotional abuse at home, bullying, homelessness, and bad alcohol addiction. Through it all, I’ve found solace in my ability to write and perform music. It was much easier for me to address and understand my own emotions that way.
Music was all I embodied and the only thing that seemed to speak my language. So, songwriting became my primary focus. Albeit still up and coming as an artist, I feel as if I have accomplished some wonderful things along my independent music journey. However; none of it would be possible if it weren’t for my decision to pursue sobriety. I have been clean for over 4 years now, and the benefits, are exemplary.
My entire life as I now know it, is a blessing. As of today, I’m well known for making music for the Los Angeles Rams, Lakers, Kings, and Dodgers, as well as for being the first artist to ever make a song for every single game of a Rams regular season. I represent a widespread group of FANtastic Los Angeles Rams fanatics called, the “Mob Squad”, and am the current President of “Mob Squad: Colorado.” So, any LA fans in Colorado reading this, feel free to get in touch with me about joining.
As for my other music, I find it only getting better and better with time. I would like to get to a point lyrically, where I’m able to touch the hearts of millions out there, because I can relate to the pain of millions the same. I’m beyond thankful for EVERYONE who’s supported me and ANYONE who’s taken the time to show some love, too. And Voyage, thank you for having me. You can find my work almost anywhere if you’re interested in listening. Stay amazing.
Lastly, I’d like to give a special shout-out to my little brother Sage, fighting and overcoming his own battle with Type 1 Diabetes. You’ve got this, brother. I love you. I’d also like to give a shout-out to my beautiful girlfriend, Soraya. Thank you for being my rock. You’ve really saved me in ways I can’t explain. I love you, pretty lady.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overcoming fear as a WHOLE will never be easy, as much as I wish it could be. But then again, we need rainy days to appreciate the sunny ones. If we didn’t face the things in life we needed to face, we’d never grow. Through all of my trauma, I’ve learned some VERY valuable lessons. I’ve learned to not place the blame on others for what I go through, what they go through, or what they do. Playing the victim never brings positive changes to your psyche.
I’ve learned that self-love, self-respect, self-acceptance, and self-discipline are the keys to changing your overall perspective on life. I’ve spent too many nights on the brink of death, to not appreciate life on a spiritually deeper level than my past-self could ever fathom. I truly pray for humanity and everyone who struggles with being angry at the world, like I was. There is no reason to carry that hate. You are strong, you are unique, you are beautiful, and you are CAPABLE. Save yourself the stress and just focus on what you can do better in this very MOMENT. You’re worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well, technically, I’m a singer/songwriter. That’s what I’m primarily known for. I make music, in multiple genres, and do equally well in hip-hop, as I do in alternative rock, and heavy metal. But, I also have dreams to become an actor, as well as an author, and producer. I’ve done some great things in my career, including performing with Bone Thugs n’ Harmony, partying with Nappy Roots, making music with Mark Battles, and speaking with many different celebrities.
However, I’m most proud of what I’ve accomplished through my dedication to the Los Angeles Rams. As a child, the only time there wasn’t any fighting in my household, was during a Rams game. I REALLY held onto that. The Rams fanbase has really changed my life and welcomed me in with open arms. I was blessed enough to make music for the team during their Super Bowl run and was even quoted by the team on an Instagram post, for their Super Bowl matchup against the Bengals.
I think that’s what sets me apart. I’ve inspired many artists to make music for their favorite teams and players, and I expect that trend to continue. Manifesting creative energy is kinda my “thing.” I don’t really need the money or the fame, I’ve always been broke. But, I’d love to be remembered for inspiring others to chase their dreams, to take a leap of faith, to conquer their fears. If I were to be famous though, I’d be spending all my money helping others. Without a doubt. Go Rams.
What makes you happy?
Love makes me happy. I’ve finally met the woman of my dreams and it’s really opened up my mind to just HOW powerful love can truly be. When you feel loved, you feel valuable. And self-love, as important as we know it to be, is where it all begins. Once you find that self-worth, your soul will open up to love, because your soul will know what it deserves.
Too many times I felt the adverse effects of self-loathing, so much so, I felt as if love wasn’t REAL. As if I didn’t DESERVE it. Through spiritual practice, I learn to let all of that go. You can, too. If we treated this world with the same level of love, patience, and respect we could potentially learn to give OURSELVES, we could make this planet a better place to share with one another.
