Today we’d like to introduce you to Fiya Mayne.
Hi Fiya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started when I was young. The moment I first discovered music, I knew it would be something I pursued for the rest of my life. I went through a lot at a young age, which helped me to define the approach I wanted to take with music. Over time, that dream morphed into a reality. It’s been something that has really brought a lot of happiness to my life. We’re all dreamers, so having the opportunity to showcase my dreams in front of a widespread audience has truly been a blessing. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would love to say that it’s been all sunshine and rainbows, but in all actuality, it’s been a constant change in weather. Sometimes the sun is shining, sometimes a monsoon is quietly redefining my character. Some of the difficult aspects of creating my image came through the inability to understand who exactly I was as a person. Whether you’re a teenager, young adult, grown adult- All of those different eras of life paint a different image of reality, depending on your circumstances and willpower to change. Finding precisely what I wanted to SAY on a record, came through constant trial and error.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a rapper/singer/songwriter, but more so a poet. I channel my emotional passion and turn it into music that people can relate to. I’m mostly known for being a musician for sports teams, including the Los Angeles Rams and their fanbase. I am the president of MOB Squad Colorado: A localized fanbase that I’m working hard to expand on behalf of all the Rams fans in Southern California and beyond. It’s truly a privilege to make music for a professional football team and their dedicated supporters. I feel like the thing that sets me apart from all other artists is my authenticity. I am exactly who I am. There’s no facades or masquerades here. My heart truly beats for the people, the fans, and the folks I share this beautiful experience we call “life” with.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see music shifting harder into AI. I am not sure how long genuine MUSIC will be created by man, for man. However, I know creatives will always be around. I don’t dislike what AI is doing for the music industry, as I believe that when used as a tool, it can be quite beneficial. As for me, I don’t see myself diving too deeply in that pool. I appreciate music that comes from a place of raw emotion and creative energy. There’s too much going on in the world for people to lose sight of their own feelings and natural ability to express them creatively.
