Rising Stars: Meet Greg Benskin of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Greg Benskin.

Hi Greg, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my photography journey shortly after starting a creative designer internship with the school district where I was employed at the time. While working in multiple roles within the Operations Department of Littleton Public Schools, I was also taking online courses through Arapahoe Community College to develop my skills in Adobe programs and graphic design. That combination of hands-on experience and continued education led to opportunities to take on design projects for the district, including photographing events such as the Western Welcome Week Parade in Littleton.

Over the course of the following year, I built a strong foundation in photography, finding my voice behind the camera while steadily growing my portfolio and personal style. When my internship came to an end, I made the intentional decision to pursue photography full-time. I took on part-time contract work with other photography companies, which provided financial stability while allowing me to sharpen my technical abilities and deepen my interpersonal skills. This allowed me the opportunity to open my own business: Tilted Frame Photography & Design, LLC.

For the past four years, I’ve continued to grow my wedding photography business with purpose — refining my brand, website, and artistic direction along the way. Like any creative path, there have been moments of uncertainty alongside periods of strong momentum, but photography has remained the one constant that truly fulfills me (and something I take great pride in doing well). To date, I’ve photographed over 60 events, including weddings, elopements, anniversaries, engagements, maternity, and family sessions. Looking back at my portfolio and the many joyful, in-love couples I’ve had the honor of documenting across Colorado always reminds me why I chose this path.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has been incredibly rewarding. Colorado’s beauty draws many talented photographers, creating a competitive market that has pushed me to refine my skills, elevate my work, and clearly define my brand. Along the way, I’ve learned how to navigate the realities of running a small business, including protecting my work and clients from scams.

One of my biggest areas of growth has been marketing, learning to trust in strategic investments like premium listings and search engine optimization, while having confidence in the long-term vision of my business.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I run a photography business specializing in couples photography, including weddings, elopements, and engagements. One of my greatest points of pride is building a thoughtful, goal driven business from the ground up. I find so much joy in traveling across Colorado to capture meaningful moments and lasting memories for couples.

What defines my work is a strong sense of professionalism and a true-to-life, timeless style. I’m drawn to imagery that feels natural, warm, and authentic, photographs that reflect the day as it truly looked and felt. I put great care and intention into every image I deliver, ensuring couples receive memories that feel genuine, enduring, and beautifully lit in the golden tones they remember long after the day has passed.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creativity is what truly makes me happy. Running my own business has given me the freedom to set my own boundaries and define my path, while opening the door to endless creative expression. Being able to do what I love, turn it into my life’s work, and earn an income through it has been a deeply life-altering experience, one I only wish I had embraced sooner.

This journey has allowed me to fully use my skill set, trust my intuition, and build a career that aligns with who I am, creatively and personally.
