Rising Stars: Meet Guadalupe Ramirez of Commerce City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Guadalupe Ramirez.

Hi Guadalupe , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hello, my name is Guadalupe but I like going by “Lupita.” What started as a hobby became to be my side bussiness. My husband and I were pregnant of our second child at the time we had lost my father, we were grieving it was a rough time for us , especially for me. I was daddy’s little girl, my world revolved around him it didn’t matter how of a woman I have had became my dad was always there. As growing up we talked about having a business we never said of what. So I named my business after his last name, which is “Ramirez” and I shorten it to “RMZ ” and added the “Licious Treats”. I felt guilty for feeling happy due to the loss we were experiencing but at the same time my husband and I were having our first daughter, we always talked about having a boy as our first and a girl as our second and that’s what we were experiencing. I felt lost couldn’t accept my father’s passing, so I got myself back into the kitchen started with some strawberries and chocolate but this time around I did my research because I had done some chocolate Covered Strawberries in the past but no knowledge. Than I began measuring temperatures and went from there.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I can say it has been but just like any new risk it has it’s up and downs. Mine had to be social media, in this time of age that’s the new promoting yourself and getting out there. I had no socials, I created my accounts and that is when I made the choice of “well, here we go!” I posted my first few pictures, super excited feeling! I had coworkers and friends that supported me right away. My little sister she was my go to person in asking her for social media advice and help and still is. She’s been such an amazing supporter. Than I got 5 orders, it was before Valentine’s too, that gave me confidence to continue I kept practicing because I wasn’t just doing strawberries were you dip into chocolate and done, no! I made them customize from Mickey mouse to spider man ones! It really helped with my grief as I had mentioned on how all of this started. Every detail was and is important to me because these are clients trusting me with not just something sweet but expecting for it to look beautiful. Every struggle is a lesson learned and with my husbands support it’s what makes it a smooth road for my business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

It is such a great feeling knowing what I self taught entrepreneur woman I have becoming and it brings joy to others, that is what makes me proud. I believe my unique in my business, is the personality I carry, I’m not here just to get clientele, I’m here to deliver what those customers ask for from surprises in making them happy and welcome anyone, what I mean by that is that I speak Spanish, English and ASL (American Sign Language) I know having a community that doesn’t feel left out is a big thing for anyone. How do you think about happiness?
My happiness is my family, it is what my husband and I once talked about and here we are creating it with every day adding a new memory, because tomorrow it isn’t promised. As for the adventures will come as we go on in life, and this is the second of it, my business that I am here to make others happy for that event being planned or going to attend to! Knowing I’m making these themed desserts for that special occasion it is part of my happiness I get to create and share joy with one sweet bite.
