Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramil.
Hi Ramil, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been writing since before I could remember. I’ve been think up design ideas since about 8 years old. My main inspiration being my family. Growing up my mother made sure my brother, my sister, and I were always doing crafts and something artsy. Both of my siblings play instruments. They were musical geniuses. My brother, Jamal, played tuba and a little bit of drums but I realized his genius when he learned “Purple Rain” on the Guitar ALL BY EAR. That blew my mind, not to mention his amazing drawing, writing, producing, and designing abilities. Jamal is built a lil’ different. My sister, Myra, was also a huge inspiration. She played the trombone, drums, and clarinet. She was a beast. She was the definition of humble, she was great at playing all of those instruments but saw it as a small task. Meanwhile, all I did was write and I played alto saxophone and a little bit of drums. Although I drew and did other stuff it never came naturally to me but nonetheless, I just kept working. I proceeded to come up with different ideas for music and writing, entering a couple different writing competitions and doing plenty of recitals. At the same time though, I also pursued entrepreneurship during my free time. After school and during the summer I would go around my apartment complex and offer my trash services to elderly people that I noticed struggle making it to the dumpster. There was a lot of skateboarding, apartment paintball, and other things going on at the time that also greatly influenced who I am today. Most of these events took place in my preteen and early teen ages. Then there was a sharp pivot where I did a bunch of stupid stuff in the projects and in the streets all through the night when I should’ve been asleep or studying. Unfortunately, I got wrapped up with the wrong people doing the wrong things, and a lot of those beautiful things I was cultivating started to diminish. Luckily, I didn’t lose my passion for writing and helping people, to which all of the credit goes to my family and the Boys and Girls Club. Later I met up with other artist in the neighborhood and started to record for the first time ever. The music I made was trash just to be blunt but I kept pushing, doing performances and local venues and for local youth outreach initiatives. Me and a few friends made a crew had fun learned a lot and realized I can grow more by focusing on my personal identity and musical fingerprint. Since then, I’ve developed my skills and started designing again but actually placing it on clothes this time. I’ve also started laying the groundwork for Big Love Ent. Which is a production company that I love dearly. The whole idea behind it being to create a beautiful artistically diverse networking and production platform that hopefully will help people bridge the gap between where they are and where they wanna be artistically. This is something that is currently in the Grassroots level but will be making a huge launch in the coming months with the help of artists/ revolutionary entrepreneurs in my current and growing network. As of right now, I am in a state of metanoia/transformation and I’m excited for what’s to come. Also, the official Big Love anthem just dropped on YouTube and is headed to all major platforms soon!!!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Poverty has probably been my biggest obstacle. Something that I’m still battling but overcoming right now. Growing up I have definitely experienced homelessness resulting in shelter hopping at one point with my mother and sister. Money was definitely an issue that kept us moving around. I’ve been to at least 5 different elementary schools in this process. The most disappointing part of this is that my father wasn’t very present so my mom worked sometimes 2 to 3 jobs at a time pretty much my whole life and we still didn’t have the means to not be homeless at a time. Unfortunately, she worked so hard as a CNA for so long that she became permanently partially disabled and was forced to retire. My mom’s health has been one of the most difficult obstacles I have been facing and it’s crazy because it was all for me and my siblings. She a Goddess to say the least and deserves all the praise.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in writing and recording but my company specializes in production and videography. I have a network of engineers, videographers, and photographers that can help create magical scenes and make some dreams come true. I’m most known for my music and my entrepreneurial mindset and ways of operation. I’ve always had products or services to offer people and if I didn’t have what people needed, I always knew someone… and still do. I’m most proud of the volunteer work I’ve done with the boys and girls club, being a peer leader and one of the many event organizers there, as well as my works with PhD youth group which was supervised by Denver Health focusing on spreading Health equity in impoverished neighborhoods through youth outreach and policy change in Denver’s legislation. Also, when a peer told me my mixtape got him through the week, that was an inspiring moment for me. I guess you can say I’m most proud of my personal impact I’ve had in people’s lives. The main thing that sets me apart from most people is my thought process. I’m very practical and innovative. I’m a natural revolutionary that sees major flaws and holes in the system as well as potentially effective and highly applicable solutions that will help the world in a major way. My dreams are huge and I expect to affect the world in extremely positive ways that will have consequences lasting for generations to come. Most people don’t have the type of vision I do or maybe they just don’t believe in themselves enough to think it’ll happen. I see the picture in my head and I’m certain I can make it happen.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was highly entrepreneurial and active. I loved music, creative writing, skateboarding, rollerblading, basketball, football, bad mitten, martial arts, paintball, and bb gun wars. I loved helping people and showing love in different ways. I really appreciated and valued meaningful interactions with people, probably why I love networking. I was also really into academics. I loved math and science and still do. I was also a bookworm who read at least 1 or 3 books a month, a lot has changed lol. One huge thing that hasn’t changed though is I’ve been really big on adjusting my character to have better results and outcomes in my life and big on self-empowerment, I always had the belief that I can get through anything life hands me. This was one of the many amazing gifts bestowed to me by my mother.
