Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Still.
Hi Jodi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started creating my mice and participating in craft shows about 15 years ago. I was a newly divorced mother of a son with autism and I needed to find a creative way to earn money and be there for my son. I was also finishing up my bachelors degree at the same time. I started participating in local craft shows when I was living in Buffalo, New York and then I moved to Boulder, Colorado, and then to New York City during Covid and I was working as a paramedic because shows had all been canceled. I’ve always been a creative person, and I continued to make artwork and sell online. Last year when my ex-husband took a job in Washington DC I made the decision to move back to Boulder, Colorado, leave emergency services and continue my artwork.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Oh my goodness no I’ve always had to work around the needs of my son and then there was Covid.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create whimsical wool felt mice that are seasonally embellished. I have been creating them for about 15 years and I have a following from the East Coast all the way to Colorado. My best seasons are Halloween and Christmas when I create my Halloween and Christmas mice. I am pretty much the only one creating mice the way that I do and I’m known as the mouse lady.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Creating new mice every year because I have a following and customers that want to collect something new every year.
