Rising Stars: Meet Karyssa Richman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karyssa Richman. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Quadbonds is a queer and woman-inclusive skate crew based out of Northern Colorado. Our creator, Karyssa has been a performer for 25+ years in the fields of dance, musical theater, etc., and decided to combine her love of her community and her adoration of skating to create this space.

Karyssa skates 8-16 hours a week to dedicate to her craft. She is the choreographer, videographer, and the life of the party. Veronica has been skating for 5+ years as well and brings elegance, vibrancy, and dance into our skate environment.

The pair together are best friends and push each other and their community to grow. Together they are an unstoppable queen duo that wants nothing more than to create safe spaces for people to be their most authentic selves whilst getting in shape and learning to love you completely.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not. We are clear women who are trying to run a business in capitalistic America, there is absolutely not been a smooth road for us to ride down period we are creating the road in which we drive period all of the skate crews that have been created are predominantly male-driven.

We’ve had to claim every inch of space that we have taken apologetically, and we refuse to give it back. The space in which we take is ours, To shine grow, and allow others space to exist in as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an entertainer by trade. I work as an Oracle for the magician Aiden Sinclair who works at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. I like to say that I specialize in human connection period the difference between conversation and soul connection is where I like to live. Allowing human beings to be seen and to see them.

As a person of magic and love, I’m proud to create an environment of genuine human connection and everything that I do. On a superficial level what sets me apart as I am a green-haired heavily tattooed and pierced young woman who chases after joy relentlessly. In a world where that makes people really uncomfortable, It’s something I will always do and it sets me apart from others.

What’s next?
Quad Bonds have plans of opening up our own entertainment venue that acts as not only a skating rink but a place for Pole artists, Aerial artists, and other “misfit entertainers” Do not only come and perform but come and practice safely and an environment that is wholly welcoming of who they are.

• $500 for 3hr private parties with instructors
