Rising Stars: Meet Kelly McCoy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly McCoy.

Hi Kelly, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been licensed for almost 7 years now and doing microblading for 2 1/2 years. My love for esthetics & PMU goes back to almost 10 years ago when I was pregnant. I got pretty bad melasma. I became obsessed with finding ways to lighten it and research as much as I could about it. 7 years ago I decided I needed a change and since I had managed my melasma pretty well, I thought why couldn’t I help others do the same?!

Microblading was something that always intrigued me. I have thinner brows and got sick of having to fill them in daily. I finally took the plunge and got certified in microblading & it has been so fun to give other women the confidence of waking up with brows every day! 7 years later, I wouldn’t change a thing!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Well, nothing in life is easy. I will say, this industry takes a lot of hard work & dedication. Some days you feel like you failed, while others you feel like you’ve got it all figured out. But I will say, the hard times are what shape you into a better artist & esthetician so keep going!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do a variety of services ranging from Hydrafacial, chemical peels & micro channeling to lash lifts & brow laminations as well as microblading! I specialize in enhancing your natural beauty. I struggled a lot with my skin, thin brows & just overall confidence and I will say, becoming confident in my skin has been such a journey! & that’s what I offer to other women.

Finding confidence in being themselves! I am most proud of seeing my client’s confidence soar after months of hard work to get their skin to where we’d like or seeing their face light up when they see their new brows. I’d say honesty & hard work is what sets me apart from others.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I’d recommend reading financial books like profit first or the latte factor. Having a better understanding of finances is so important when you work for yourself. I love listening to industry-specific podcasts or training when I’m cleaning or driving…you never stop learning!
