Rising Stars: Meet Kristy Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristy Lee.

Hi Kristy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My career all started with answering a Craigslist ad to work as a leasing consultant at an apartment community in Colorado Springs. At first, I absolutely loved the job. It was so much fun and I met so many amazing people! My most favorite part was helping clients find their new homes, envision their furniture in specific spaces, and the thrill of the sale. I quickly rose to be the top sales consultant of my company and things were great. After a while, I was promoted to assistant manager and that is when things changed. It was no longer fun anymore. I was in charge of people’s rent, evictions, etc and the stress of it became to much. I was so angry and cried all of the time. People were mean and I just couldn’t take it anymore. After 13 years of working in property management, I knew that something needed to change! It was no longer making me happy and it was taking a toll on my life mentally and physically. This was right about the time that I had my baby boy and wanted to spend more time with him. I knew that there had to be a better way to live and I was determined to find it. So in 2019, I passed the real estate exam and took a leap of faith! I quit my job and went all in with real estate! It seemed like the perfect fit because I got to help people find their homes again and that was where I was most happy!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not a smooth road at all. Finding clients was the hardest part. I started right before Covid 19 broke out and everything shut down. I couldn’t show houses, door knock, or even send mailers or gifts. Money was tight and all I could do was make phone calls and hope that someone would talk to me. Nobody tells you how hard it will be! Most people who see realtors just see the commission at the end of the transaction, but never fully understand everything that went into getting those clients in the first place. I spent endless hours door-knocking, hosting open houses, cold calling, etc. It wasn’t until 2021 did I finally find my niche. A friend of mine told me to explore video marketing and that is when my world changed. I will never forget my first video, I was terrified and it was horrible! But now over 130 videos and a full YouTube channel later, my business finally took off. I have never been so happy and felt so blessed! I get to work with the most amazing clients in the world and yet still get to spend quality time with my family.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a real estate agent in the state of Colorado. I specialize in helping clients find their first home or transition to their next home. I have a YouTube channel where I put out new videos twice a week helping people move to Colorado. This is where I get most of my clients and what I am most known for.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
That I absolutely love to travel. I have been to Europe 5 times, China, and Indonesia. It is my goal to show my son what the world has to offer and to take him to as many places as possible. We also love to take our trailer camping as much as we can during the summer. I am a Colorado girl and thoroughly enjoy everything that Colorado has to offer! From the beautiful scenery to the amazing beer, I never plan on living anywhere else! Colorado is my home!
