Rising Stars: Meet LK Cisco and Callie Craig

Today we’d like to introduce you to LK Cisco and Callie Craig.

LK Cisco and Callie Craig

Hi LK and Callie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
LK and Callie met in high school through mutual friends, moved to different states post-graduation, and then reconnected after college when they were both living in Denver. They bonded through a mutual passion for fashion, music, and advocacy within the community. They both had a history with music and photography.

LK performed in a band for 3 years and took up film photography as a hobby. Callie had experience with photojournalism and concert photography, then followed a career path into social work. LK wanted to get back into the music industry and Callie was interested in making a print publication focused on Harm Reduction. They combined their ideas to make Pillow Princess Press in August of 2023.

Pillow Princess is a magazine and press company focused on live music and harm reduction within the community. They are on their third issue of the magazine and have added 5 photographers to the team and 2 more writers to assist with their growth and ambitions to keep providing content to their readers via their website, blog, and social media.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Getting off the ground and establishing a clear vision was probably our biggest challenge. We knew what we wanted, but to make a cohesive, and comprehensive brand was tough in the beginning. We both work very demanding full-time jobs, so going from having side hobbies to a full business has taken up a lot of our free time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a queer-owned publication and we pride ourselves on supporting our community through our work. We have built priceless relationships with folks in the different scenes we highlight, whether they work with us on the team or have been interviewed/photographed by us.

We are most proud of our growth in both the quality and quantity of our work. I think our brand has a lot of personality and passion to it, it is a true reflection of us, our friendship, and our community.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
LK: I have always been a confident individual with a take-no-shit attitude and a determination to accomplish anything. I love music, sports, my cats, and my husband. I was diagnosed with ADHD pretty early on, which has been a struggle but also a strength that fuels my passions.

Callie: The way I care about the people around me has been consistent throughout my whole life. My friends are my family, and taking care of my community has become my career. I love cult classic/art-house movies (SAVE THE ESQUIRE), fashion, music, nightlife in Denver, and strange people I meet along the way.
