Rising Stars: Meet Luke Mizel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Mizel. 

Hi Luke, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a professional parkour athlete, World Chase Tag competitor, and American Ninja Warrior contestant, to say my life hasn’t been centered around athletics would be a flat-out lie. I grew up playing almost every sport you can think of: baseball, football, swim, dive, track and field, etc. Although I loved all of them, it wasn’t until middle school where I found parkour – a sport that allows the individual to completely express themselves in their environment. No rules, no regulations, just raw movement. I got hooked on it, I wanted to do a sport that was unique. Since then, it’s been nonstop. I train for hours every day perfecting my craft and I haven’t regretted one moment of it 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely has not been a smooth road. Being a professional athlete in an emerging sport is difficult financially as the sponsors are minimal and the opportunities thin. Additionally, injuries tend to come and go and put you out of training for a bit. I’ve had to struggle with physical and emotional stresses that act as roadblocks in my career — but luckily, I have an amazing group of people that surround me and help me push towards my dreams
