Rising Stars: Meet Melly Nguyen of DENVER

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melly Nguyen.

Hi Melly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started in this industry with nothing but curiosity and a deep love for creativity. I didn’t have a clear roadmap, but I was drawn to spaces where people expressed themselves boldly — whether it was through fashion, nails, or art. I remember being fascinated by how something as small as a nail design could shift someone’s entire mood.

In the beginning, it was a lot of trial and error. I worked multiple jobs, took classes, watched endless tutorials, and asked every question I could. What really fueled me was seeing the impact my work had on people — how a set of nails or a custom look could give someone confidence or mark a meaningful moment in their life.

Over time, I built connections in the community, collaborated with other artists, and stayed open to learning. I didn’t just want to be good — I wanted to stay relevant, ahead of the curve, and create spaces where others felt seen and inspired too. That mindset led me to open my own salon, get involved in education, and build a platform that supports other artists.

I’m still learning every day, but what got me here was a mix of passion, consistency, and the belief that hard work always makes room for you — even when the even when the path isn’t clear or the challenges feel heavy.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I think that’s what makes the story meaningful. There were times when I doubted myself, questioned if I was good enough, and moments where the financial and emotional weight of chasing a creative career felt overwhelming. I’ve dealt with burnout, imposter syndrome, and the constant pressure of staying relevant in an industry that evolves overnight.

There were also seasons where opportunities felt scarce, support was limited, and I had to figure things out on my own. Balancing personal life, family, and work hasn’t always been easy either. But every struggle came with a lesson. Those tough moments built my resilience, sharpened my skills, and reminded me why I started in the first place.

It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it. The challenges shaped my character, made me appreciate every win, and gave me the fuel to keep growing, learning, and creating spaces for others walking a similar path.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m creative in the beauty industry, with a special focus on nail artistry and community-driven experiences. Beyond just doing nails, I believe in storytelling through design — whether it’s a bold, intricate 3D set or something clean and classic with meaning behind it. I specialize in custom work that feels personal to each client, and I’m known for creating looks that reflect culture, mood, and individuality.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve been able to turn my space into more than a salon — it’s a hub for artists, students, and clients to connect, get inspired, and feel seen. I’ve hosted events, judged competitions, mentored up-and-coming artists, and stayed deeply involved in growing our local creative community.

What sets me apart is the heart behind the hustle. I don’t just want to give you a great set of nails — I want you to leave feeling good about yourself, knowing someone genuinely cared about your story. I’m also constantly evolving, staying ahead of trends while never losing sight of the people I serve. It’s about the vibe, the connection, and the experience — not just the service.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Consistency with heart. I truly believe that showing up, even on the tough days, with intention and care has been the biggest factor in my success. Talent will open doors, but it’s consistency, humility, and how you treat people that keep those doors open.

I’m always curious, always learning, and never too proud to start from scratch or ask questions. Seven years in business: I stay connected to my “why” — which for me is about making people feel good, creating memorable experiences, and building a community that lifts each other up. That combination of work ethic, authenticity, and the ability to evolve while staying grounded is what’s carried me through.
