Rising Stars: Meet Mini Arafa of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mini Arafa.

Hi Mini, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story started when I was born in May. I am a Gemini, and as they say, with 2 personalities. One of them believes and lives in the romance of the dreams and fantasies. All I’m trying to do is expressing my personality from inside out through art.

The other personality needs to pay the bills and stay realistic. I won’t dive deep into realities.

Consistency and practice in are keys to everything.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all! I just posted a reel on my instagram account about my failure on a recording for a painting process. It is embarrassing of course!

Sometimes, inspirations just don’t transcend for days or weeks but when they do, it’s very rewarding. My advice is don’t rush it, be patient, and don’t be hard on yourself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I like to draw and paint in oil and graphite. My colour palette is earthy but every once in a while I like to diverge. I love drawing portraits. I believe I can provide a setting for the introverts and shies that bring out their personalities. In addition to a space without any judgement.

I like to read a lot and sometime one sentence can inspire some of my subjects.

What are your plans for the future?
Like a tree with roots in the grounds and leaves in the sky. I’m trying to grow my talent and my portfolio. I wish I can get better in painting figure drawing.

Maybe an art show or two next summer.
