Rising Stars: Meet Noah Hutchison of Old Town Fort Collins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noah Hutchison.

Hi Noah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Our story really began with a shared passion for home, craftsmanship, and creating spaces where people feel deeply connected. After remodeling our own home and diving into real estate projects—everything from rentals and flips to full custom builds—we realized just how broken and confusing the residential construction experience could be for clients. We knew there had to be a better way.

With a background in project management, design, and leadership, we decided to launch Hutch Design + Build in 2022 with the goal of raising the bar in the industry. From the beginning, our mission has been to deliver transparency, quality, and a truly integrated design-build experience for homeowners in Northern Colorado. We run our business using EOS, and we’re proud to have grown a strong team of designers, project managers, and superintendents who genuinely care about the details and about the people we serve.

As we grew, we saw another need: our clients wanted help finishing their spaces with furniture and decor that matched the quality of their homes. That led to the launch of our sister brand, Hutch Home Co., a retail home furnishings store located in the heart of Old Town Fort Collins. Alli has personally curated every piece in the shop—from major furniture lines to exclusive accessories—sourced from across the market, including items you can’t find anywhere else in Northern Colorado.

Today, Hutch Design + Build and Hutch Home Co. operate side-by-side, allowing us to provide full-service support to our clients—from concept and construction to styling and furnishing. It’s been such a rewarding journey, and we’re just getting started.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most small businesses, the road hasn’t always been smooth—but it’s been worth every step.

Starting Hutch Design + Build and later Hutch Home Co. came with all the typical challenges of launching and growing a small business—juggling operations, building the right team, refining our processes, and learning how to scale while still maintaining the level of care and craftsmanship our clients expect. Add in supply chain delays, rising material costs, and the natural uncertainty of the construction industry, and it’s safe to say we’ve had to stay nimble.

That said, we’re incredibly grateful that the services and products we’ve brought to market have been so well received. Our community has embraced our design-build approach and trusted us with their homes, and the launch of Hutch Home Co. has filled a clear gap in Northern Colorado for curated, design-forward home furnishings.

The challenges have shaped us into a better, stronger team—and they’ve made the wins that much more meaningful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At Hutch Design + Build, we specialize in high-end residential remodeling and custom homes with a fully integrated design-build process. Our sister company, Hutch Home Co., allows us to take it a step further by offering curated furnishings and full-service styling so clients can go from blueprint to beautifully finished space—all with one team.

We’ve been honored to receive industry recognition, including awards from the National Kitchen and Bath Association and local “Best Of” awards here in Fort Collins. But what truly sets us apart isn’t just the design or the execution—it’s who we are and how we work.

We’re normal people with integrity, experience, and a commitment to doing things the right way in a saturated market that often lacks depth, especially post-COVID. In a time where shortcuts are common, we bring thoughtful design, skilled construction, and clear communication to every project.

What we’re most proud of is the way we partner with our clients. We don’t impose a design agenda or chase awards at the expense of livability. Instead, we dig into what our clients love—how they live, what inspires them—and bring ideas to life that are beautiful, functional, and personal. It’s about helping people see what’s possible and walking with them through the journey.

Ultimately, our goal is simple: to restore trust in this industry and create homes people are proud to live in.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Absolutely—finding the right mentor or network can be a game-changer, especially as a business owner. My advice is to get involved in local, like-minded business accelerator groups or industry-specific communities where there’s a mutual commitment to both giving and receiving. The best relationships are built on shared experiences, not just advice.

Some of the most valuable connections I’ve made have come from networking with others in the same industry—people who are facing the same challenges and opportunities. Whether it’s discussing pricing strategies, hiring, or growth pains, collaborating with peers who truly understand the space can offer insights that books or podcasts never could.

Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to people you admire. Most successful business owners remember what it was like to be in your shoes and are more than willing to share what they’ve learned—especially if you’re willing to bring value in return.

Mentorship isn’t always formal—it’s often just consistent, honest conversation with people who want to see you win.
