Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Hatch.
Hi Rachel, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My name is Rachel. And I’ve been an esthetician and skincare formulator for 16 years. My journey started when I wanted to learn how to heal my acne and rosacea. I became an esthetician at 18 and had been actively helping people heal their skin and create the confidence they deserve ever since.
My goal in creating Le Monde Botanicals was to have a fine, healthy skincare line in an ever-changing and increasingly deceiving skincare world. And with a growing number of influencers speaking for brands with no formal training and suggesting fads that are downright horrible for most people to do, I want to be a trusted relief from that world.
Let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not. I’ve had my fair share of trials and tribulations. Starting as a very young person in the industry, it was a struggle to be taken seriously, even though I felt as prepared as my older peers.
Also, I’m sure it comes as no surprise that Covid severely affected the beauty/service industry. Although, that is ultimately what brought me to the realization that creating Le Monde was my only option. It’s crazy how freeing it can feel to GO FOR IT.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in acne and aging. I’d probably say I’m most known for teaching people how to heal their skin and what works best for them, the climate they live in, and what at-home regimens need to look like.
As far as my product line goes, I think the Hydrate Oil is a fan favorite and what I’m currently most proud of. It took me a while to get the formula exactly what I wanted. As someone who has oily skin, it’s natural for people like me to have an aversion to facial oils, but they’re just as beneficial and necessary for us as they are for anyone else. The hydrating oil is a “dry oil,” meaning it absorbs quickly and doesn’t make your skin feel weighed down or greasy. It’s also a fantastic anti-inflammatory and is great for acneic skin.
I founded and curated the Makers Night Market at Gold Point in Denver. It’s a market for makers and creatives to showcase and sell their goods. It’s bi-monthly and has become something I’m very proud of. Allowing my community of small business owners to put themselves out there and thrive is one of the most extraordinary things I’ve been able to do with my career. In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
The beauty industry is continually growing and changing. The projections for the skincare industry alone are insane. I do, however, see more people asking the right questions and wanting to know what’s REALLY in their skincare. I see and hope for significant shifts and transparency in more prominent companies. And I see indie skincare brands with the proper morals running the show in the future. At least that’s the dream.
