Today we’d like to introduce you to Ree Be Budgeting.
Hello Ree Be Budgeting, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I am a YouTuber that uploads budgeting and cash-saving content. On my channel, I talk about all things cash envelope stuffing, budgeting, and bettering my relationship with money! I create this content to help keep me accountable to my financial goals. I use fun savings challenges (ever heard of the 100 envelope challenge?) and trackers to ensure I prepare for the future with each payday.
I started my channel in May 2022 and have been able to garner a sense of community among like-minded, everyday people who also want to become debt free and obtain financial freedom. I just hit 400 subscribers on YouTube, and over 900 followers on Instagram, and have recently started exploring Tik Tok.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No one is exempt from life happening. We set plans and calculate the budget down to the penny and a tire blows out, gas prices increase, grocery stores raise prices, or something needs repair around the home. That has been my main “struggle” for wanting to execute my budget precisely without any hiccups (lol). But the encouragement from people in the community keeps me going and reminds me that I’m not the only one digging myself out of years of being irresponsible with my finances.
Another struggle is engagement across social media platforms and not comparing my journey to others. While I have an intrinsic motivation to upload this content to help me better my relationship with money, it is no secret that some content creators are being compensated for their content. So the extrinsic motivation of knowing people are engaged with my content, want to see more of it week to week, and the potential of being compensated for it sometimes gets to me. But then I remember my WHY (Simon Sinek).
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of how being a part of the cash-stuffing community on YouTube has helped me have a savings account and think more seriously about where my money is going each paycheck.
You have to give your money an assignment or a job to do; otherwise, you may just be letting it slip out of your account. Before 2022, I did not have an emergency fund, I did not save for Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc., months in advance, but now I do.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
