Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Jane Huhn.
Hi Savannah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I moved out to Denver Colorado in 2017 from Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Since then I have become a full-time licensed aesthetician and massage therapist. I love creating spaces for people to feel comfortable and allow themselves to be themselves. Over 2020 my industry took a huge hit and I wasn’t able to work normally. I was trying to find ways to fill my time to allow myself to be creative and still allow myself to create people’s spaces of comfort.
I started my modeling career in September of 2020, and it took over by storm. I finally created the space for me to feel comfortable. And that was the life-changing move that I needed. I was overwhelmed by the support system that was growing around me and that people were loving what I was doing. For some time I was still feeling as though I was craving an extra form of creativity. In September 2021 I was approached with an amazing job opportunity with a Pixel Garden Media for being there creative director and set designer.
Since then I’ve created some small sets but the largest set I collaborated on was the Enchanted Garden Library for Wonder Wonder in Boulder, Colorado. Following my first large project at Wonder Wonder, I’ve been overwhelmed again with the amount of support and interest in what I’m doing. I’m so grateful to finally be in a space where I can share a little bit of myself with the world and feel comfortable doing so.
Being in this creative world it has showed me that no matter where you come from, no matter how far away you stray from old dreams, or doubts you may have in yourself, that there is a space for you to shine and to achieve your wildest dreams; you just have to be patient and work hard. I’m so very excited for this next year in my careers. I have a lot of amazing opportunities coming in the near future And I’m excited to keep networking and building relationships with people in this creative industry on all sides here in Denver.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Being in this creative industry here in Denver has not been a completely smooth road. I struggle with a lot of mental health issues as far as body dysmorphia and depression as well as anxiety from social situations. I’ve had a lot of moments where I didn’t necessarily feel comfortable with myself but I grew a lot in those uncomfortable moments. I learned to set my boundaries with people. Mostly I’ve learned to set boundaries for myself. It’s very hard moving to a large city from a small town where you don’t know anyone and you don’t have that support system. You truly do have to let yourself get out there and allow people the space to support you. And I’m super grateful to say that I’m in a space now where I am open and willing for people to be there for me so that I can keep creating for others. You truly do have to fill your own cup before filling others.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I am a full-time Esthetician and Massage a Therapist for the last 4 years. I am working in downtown Denver at the Brown Palace Spa currently. I’m also a signed model with Denver Models and do freelance modeling on the side. I have worked with local companies and Artist showcasing their work. The most recent photoshoot I was a part of was for Centre Salons here in Colorado as well as several other small businesses. I specialize in commercial modeling. The company that I have worked largest with is Milk & ViVid; a small business providing spray tan and teeth whitening in downtown Littleton, Colorado.
My newest addition is being a Creative Director for Pixel Garden Media here in the Colorado area. The set I am most proud of is the enchanted Garden Library at Wonder Wonder in Boulder. I built that set with my partner Brenden Matthews (owner of Pixel Garden Media) and we spent collectively 36+ hours of building in four days, we thrifted mostly all of our items and scouted props for that entire month prior.
I love being a part in all sides of this creative industry, I truly do feel that it allows me to connect with people and build those strong relationships with all forms of creatives.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success to me has always been about finding comfort within myself in no matter what I do. As someone who struggles greatly with mental health, learning to put yourself first is truly a game-changer.
