Rising Stars: Meet Stacy Robinson of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Robinson.

Hi Stacy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I feel as if I was born with a paintbrush in my hand. In fact, my hands have always been busy. I’ve explored many different mediums through the years including painting on canvas, jewelry making, wire sculpture, papermaking, clay and pottery and working as a muralist. I was a shy, quiet kid with ADHD but when I’m creating I am hyper focused and find it very calming. I’ve lived many creative lives and am
currently making components for jewelry artisans. My business is a mix of retail and wholesale and I love my work being a part of a jewelry designer’s finished piece. I fashion pendants and beads out of clay and then hand paint them. I enjoy exploring different themes with the most prominent being nature inspired, whimsical animals and women.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have been fortunate to have my work well received and have always found an outlet to sell my wares. For the most part, I’ve managed to not have to work in an office for long. I found that environment to be soul crushing and it propelled me into another art career each time. I feel very blessed to be an artist.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have taken many workshops, classes and attended the Art Institute of Atlanta but am self taught for the most part. My can-do attitude and all the many experiences in different mediums have culminated into each new exploration. I manage to make each my own. With my current work with clay components, my pieces are sculpted and adorned and then I paint layers of glazes. I think what sets me a part from others is my love of mixing beauty with whimsy. The finished pieces my customers create are an artisan style, one of a kind pieces. The talented Meg Weeks does incredible bead work as you’ll see with the horse image and Nikki Caudill is a prolific artisan that used my owl in her bracelet. Allison Edwards’ is known for her whimsical style and her necklace features one of my little angels.

What are your plans for the future?
My business keeps my hopping these days but I love it. I foresee a time when I slow it down and start painting on canvas again. I find it challenging and it requires much more time, concentration and solitude. It’s a deeper journey into my feelings and thoughts. Right now it’s all about fun!
