Rising Stars: Meet Suki Suxen of Denver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Suki Suxen

Hi Suki, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Well, I have been sensitive and privy to the paranormal basically my entire life, I’ve been professionally reading Tarot cards for the past 8 years- I also used to work as a Radio DJ/ Personality back in college. I guess I have always been fascinated and deeply drawn to all things paranormal or supernatural and my dream was to pursue a career as a Radio Show Host/Personality and they love to say Radio is dead- but I saw a chance to achieve my dream and vision through Podcasting. I wanted to make the type of show I was always personally hunting down for- a show that is sensual and spooky, where I can hear or share others own strange encounters and discuss a vast range of topics and have a reason to dive deep into them. I know I have a ton of crazy stories that have made it impossible for me to become an “unbeliever” and I love to hear others and I’m always learning more about different spooky spots or cryptids with their own following. It’s an vast and complex world, just beyond our own understanding of the one we all live in.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Ehh… it’s been a journey for sure. I’ve loved every minute and day of it- we are actually coming up on our One Year Anniversary on October 13th and we will already be in our Third Season. I would say the most difficult part has been getting people to become comfortable in opening up and sharing their experiences- I know a lot of people hear “paranormal” and think “crazy person” and the other half fear that label- I would love for people to know that GASP! Podcast is an open space for sharing your experiences or ones that have been shared with you, it’s an open minded and safe space so please share, because you’ll probably allow others that vulnerability!
Otherwise, I’ve been really lucky to have some good friends share theirs and thank goddess for quick and responsive Reddit users!
Aside from that I would say platforms are insane right now, the original one I was using was amazing and so helpful and easy to use and complete episodes quickly. Unfortunately I have had to switch to a different platform program that has made it go from a few hours to like a couple days- just with editing or recording separately.
Either way I’m super happy to be creating and sharing and I just hope people enjoy it!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would say I’m very creative and expressive- very dramatic and sensual, in all things I do. I am a burlesque/exotic dancer, a tarot reader, and now I research, write, produce and host this Paranormal Podcast. I have been a creative writer since I was decently young and with that I have always pulled from a sexual or spooky aspect of myself. I think this Podcast Show has been an outlet for my writing and my story telling- done so in the sensual way most people know me for.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Hmm that’s a hard one – I would probably have to say when I was in 6th grade and I met my now best friend we weren’t friends until we realized that we had both grown up in haunted houses and had many experiences with the paranormal. We would take turns at each others houses trying to “hunt ghosts” or at least gain evidence of their existence using our little flip phones audio recorders. We were very methodical in our practices and experienced a lot- but whenever we found legit evidence on one of our phones- that phone would somehow either become broken internally or busted or just die all together. I’m not kidding you the summer going into eighth grade I went through at least 6 different phones- I never dropped them on the ground or in water. We held a seance in her home one time, we had picked the darkest room- the play room for her nieces and nephews, it was pitch black from no windows and was filled with toys. We had sat on the twin bed and when we called out for the spirits all of the electronic toys began lighting up and making noises. So much so we could actually see each other and most of the room- that’s when she saw someone standing behind me and started screaming bloody for help. This made me start screaming and it wasn’t until we had screamed ourselves horse that I finally leaped off the bed tripping over endless toys and flipped on the lights- no one was there with us. When we opened the door yelling up the stairs how no one cared about us screaming. Her family who was sitting maybe twenty feet away up one floor told us they didn’t hear any screaming.
