Today we’d like to introduce you to Tia Hunsperger.
Hi Tia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been an Interior Designer for over 20 years. I originally went to art school, A few years later I worked as an office manager in a home builder’s office and learned how a house was built. A few years later art and construction combined and turned into a career in Interior Design. I personally had a life-changing closet experience. My husband and I were shopping for a house and found a house we liked but it had an awful master closet. I told him we couldn’t buy the house because we wouldn’t get along very well if we tried to share that closet. He suggested that we turn an extra small bedroom into my walk-in dressing room. I thought that sounded like a great idea and I have had a dressing room in each of the houses we have lived in since then. This was what inspired me to transition my design career into closets and other types of custom home organizations.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The closet and home organization industry has been very busy over the last few years. This has been a good problem to have, I suppose. Clients are excited for their new design plans to be installed and do end up having to wait for install of the final project. This can make it even more exciting when the project is completed for them.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My favorite part of the work I do is the people I get to help. The work I do is very collaborative. I take the ideas my clients share and combine them with best practices for their spaces to create a design that fits their organizational needs, their aesthetic preferences and their budget!
Although Closets are always fun projects to collaborate on, I also enjoy designing pantries, home offices, garage storage and other organizational workspaces.
The best gift a client can give me is a note sharing how excited they are when their project is completed.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I think my biggest tool for success is collaboration! I enjoy working with clients, home builders and remodelers, other interior designers, and my teammates for inspiration to develop the best new ideas for every project.
